The ''New Zealand Woman's Weekly'' is a weekly New Zealand women's magazine published by Are Media. , it had a circulation of 82,040, third by paid sales after ''TV Guide'' and ''New Zealand Woman's Day''. History On 8 December 1932, journalists Otto Williams and Audrey Argall launched the magazine, with 7,000 copies on newsprint. Williams took the role of managing director, and Argall was the first editor. Due to financial difficulties, they were forced to sell the magazine after three months. Ellen Melville ran the magazine for a few weeks, before the magazine's printer, F. S. Proctor, and his wife, took over. ''The New Zealand Herald'' is a daily newspaper published in Auckland, New Zealand, owned by New Zealand Media and Entertainment, and considered a newspaper of record for New Zealand. It has the largest newspaper circulation of all newspapers in New Zealand, peaking at over 200,000 copies in 2006, although circulation of the daily ''Herald'' had declined to 100,073 copies on average by September 2019. The New Zealand Press Association (NZPA) was a news agency that existed from 1879 to 2011 and provided national and international news to the media of New Zealand. The largest news agency in the country, it was founded as the United Press Association in 1879, and became the New Zealand Press Association in 1942. Following Fairfax New Zealand's withdrawal from NZPA in April 2011, NZPA told staff that it would be wound up over the next four to six months, and ceased operation on 31 August 2011. Nicky Pellegrino
Nicky Pellegrino (born 1964) is a novelist. She is an English-born New Zealander of Italian descent and lives and writes in Auckland, New Zealand. Her novels have been translated into 12 languages. Early life Pellegrino was born in Liverpool in the north-west of England to an Italian father and English mother. The family spent summer holidays with her father's siblings in southern Italy, experiences which later became the inspiration for some of her books. She studied English at the University of Lancaster, completing a BA (Honours) degree Career After graduating, Pellegrino moved to London and worked on women’s and entertainment magazines. Jean Wishart
Jean Boughton Wishart (8 October 1920 – 16 November 2016) was a New Zealand journalist who was the editor of the ''New Zealand Woman's Weekly'' from 1952 until 1985. Biography Born in the Auckland suburb of Remuera on 8 October 1920, Wishart was the daughter of Florence Olivia Marianne Wishart (née Cadman) and Robert Wishart. She was educated at Epsom Girls' Grammar School and joined the ''New Zealand Woman's Weekly'' as an office girl when she left school. She eventually rose to become the magazine's editor in 1952. During her 33-year tenure as editor—the longest in the magazine's history—circulation increased from about 100,000 to a peak of 250,000 in the early 1980s. She served as a director of NZ News Ltd from 1975, and was a member of the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce.
