New Zealand Nomads
The Nomads are a large organised Maori criminal gang based in Wellington, New Zealand. History The Nomads were originally members of the Black Power, known as the "Black Power Nomads", before a large portion of the gang split and formed their own gang in 1977. In 1997, tensions heated up with the Highway 61 gang and resulted in the murder of Nomad Malcom Munns. In 2009, Nomads founder and President Dennis Hines died. He is the brother of senior Head Hunters member, William Hines. He was imprisoned on a count of nearly 100 criminal convictions. The gang had 103 members in prison in 2013. Paul Rodgers (Porky Rimene) is the Nomad gang boss. Black Power (New Zealand)
Black Power is a prominent gang in New Zealand. Members are predominantly Māori and Polynesian. History It was formed as the "Black Bulls" by Reitu Harris and Māori youth in Wellington about 1970, but was changed to ''Black Power'' in 1971. The gang was founded in response to the rival Mongrel Mob gang and white power associated gangs. The gang then spread to other major centres and rural towns throughout New Zealand. The Head Hunters Motorcycle Club are an outlaw motorcycle club in New Zealand. They are found all around the North Island, but are mainly based in East Auckland, with its headquarters being located in Ellerslie. They also have chapters in West Auckland, Wellsford, Northland and Wellington. They have a long criminal history, with more than 1000 notable criminal convictions. History The Head Hunters were formed as a large multi-ethnic street gang in 1967, in the East Auckland suburb of Glen Innes. They later relocated to West Auckland, and evolved into an outlaw motorcycle club in 1985. They became a legally incorporated society in 1996. The Mongrel Mob (sometimes self-labelled as the Mighty Mongrel Mob or colloquially known as the Mob) is an organised street gang and Prison gang based in New Zealand. Highway 61 Motorcycle Club
The Highway 61 Motorcycle Club is an outlaw motorcycle club based in New Zealand and also operating in Australia. The Committee on Gangs report of 1981 (known as the Comber Report) said they were one of the two largest of the 20 outlaw motorcycle gangs in New Zealand. In the 1990s they were the largest in the country. They were still the largest in 2010, even though their membership numbers had declined. As of 2019 they were considered one of the ten main gangs (including motorcycle gangs and ethnically based gangs) in the country.
