The New Zealand Cycle Classic (previously known as the Tour of Wellington) is a road cycling race held in and around the Wairarapa near Wellington, New Zealand. Brian Fowler (cyclist)
Brian Andrew Fowler (born 13 September 1962) is a retired cyclist who represented New Zealand at four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1984. In 1983, he rode Paris–Nice finishing 43rd. He won six medals (one gold, four silvers, one bronze) at four consecutive Commonwealth Games. Fowler's finest hour came when he won the gold medal in the men's team time trial at the 1990 Commonwealth Games. Fowler won the Tour of Southland a record eight times. He also holds the record for number of wins in the Tour of Wellington, with four consecutive successes. Peter Latham (cyclist)
Peter David Latham (born 8 January 1984) is a New Zealand former professional racing cyclist. He competed in the team pursuit at the 2004 Summer Olympics, where New Zealand finished tenth. In 2005 Latham won the bronze medal in the Under 23 Individual Time Trial at the Road World Championships in Madrid. He competed at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne where along with Tim Gudsell, Hayden Godfrey and Marc Ryan he won a bronze medal in the Team pursuit. Career In 2005 Latham went to the UCI Road World Championships to compete in the Under-23 category. In the time trial Latham came third 37 seconds behind winner Mikhail Ignatiev. Aaron Gate (born 26 November 1990) is a New Zealand road and track cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Continental team . He represented his country in track cycling at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. Gate is the first New Zealand athlete to win four gold medals at a single Commonwealth Games. Gordon McCauley
Gordon McCauley (born 9 March 1972) is a New Zealand cyclist. He has won the men's New Zealand road race championships a record five times and the New Zealand time trial championships a record three times. He was also the first New Zealander to break the 50 minute barrier for the 40 km time trial, recording a time of 49 minutes 50 seconds at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, winning the bronze medal. He is the only rider ever to hold New Zealand Road, Time Trial and Criterium Titles (although on different years). Gregory Henderson (born 10 September 1976) is a New Zealand former professional track and road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2002 and 2017. His career includes winning the scratch race at the 2004 world championships and, in road cycling, winning the points competition at the Tour de Georgia in 2005 and 2008. Nathan Earle (born 4 June 1988) is an Australian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Continental team . Career Earle rode for in 2014 and 2015. He transferred to Australian team for the 2016 season. Robin Neil Reid (born 16 December 1975 in Invercargill) is a former road racing cyclist from Blenheim, New Zealand who was a New Zealand time trial champion and Olympian. He won the Tour de Pakistan race in 2007.
