New York State Route 368
New York State Route 368 (NY 368) was a state highway in Onondaga County, New York, in the United States. It was one of the shortest routes in the county, extending for only between NY 321 and NY 5 in the town of Elbridge. NY 368 was known as Halfway Road for the hamlet it served near its midpoint. The route was assigned in the 1930s and removed in 1980 as part of a highway maintenance swap between the state of New York and Onondaga County. Route description NY 368 began at an intersection with NY 321 adjacent to the Carpenter's Brook Fish Hatchery in the town of Elbridge. The route headed north as Halfway Road, passing by farmland as it headed through a rural area of Onondaga County to the small hamlet of Halfway. Conrail , formally the Consolidated Rail Corporation, was the primary Class I railroad in the Northeastern United States between 1976 and 1999. The trade name Conrail is a portmanteau based on the company's legal name. New York State Route 31B (NY 31B) was a state highway in central New York in the United States. It served as a connector between NY 31, its parent route, in the Cayuga County village of Weedsport and NY 5 in the Onondaga County town of Elbridge. NY 31B was assigned , replacing New York State Route 293, a route assigned as part of the 1930 renumbering of state highways in New York. The NY 31B designation was removed in 1980 and replaced by County Route 31B (CR 31B) in Cayuga County and CR 99 in Onondaga County. Elbridge is a village. Located in the western part of the town of Elbridge in western Onondaga County, New York, United States, about west of Syracuse. It is part of the Syracuse Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the village's total population was 1,058. History The village is in the former Central New York Military Tract. The first settler was Josiah Buck, a government surveyor sent there in 1791 to map the area. He was so impressed that he returned with his family in 1793. Carpenter's Brook Fish Hatchery is a county-maintained fish hatchery in the town of Elbridge (town), New York, Elbridge, New York. The fish hatchery is located along New York State Route 321, at the intersection with former New York State Route 368 (now County Route 107). The location is maintained by Onondaga County, New York, Onondaga County's Parks commission, running full-time around the year with certain hours. Opened in 1938, it is only one of four county-maintained fish hatcheries in the state of New York (state), New York at the current time. The fish hatchery produces over 70,000 trout annually. The staff of the hatchery, along with other volunteers, help fund retail sales and local fish stores with $4 million annually.
