New Town (Alberta)
A town is an urban municipality status type used in the Canadian province of Alberta. Alberta towns are created when communities with populations of at least 1,000 people, where a majority of their buildings are on parcels of land smaller than 1,850 m2, apply to Alberta Municipal Affairs for town status under the authority of the ''Municipal Government Act''. Applications for town status are approved via orders in council made by the Lieutenant Governor in Council under recommendation from the Minister of Municipal Affairs. Alberta has 106 towns that had a cumulative population of 455,053 and an average population of 4,293 in the 2016 Canadian Census. The number of towns decreased from 107 to 106 on February 1, 2020, when Granum dissolved from town status to become a hamlet. New Town, Ramsbury, Wiltshire
Ramsbury is a village and civil parish in the English county of Wiltshire. The village is in the Kennet Valley near the Berkshire boundary. The nearest towns are Hungerford about east and Marlborough about west. The much larger town of Swindon is about to the north. The civil parish includes the hamlet of Axford about west of Ramsbury, and three smaller hamlets: New Town, close to Ramsbury to the southeast, and Knighton and Whittonditch, both about to the east. The 2011 Census recorded a parish population of 1,989. History The Domesday Book of 1086 recorded a large settlement of 156 households at ''Ramesberie''. Littlecote Roman Villa is in the parish. New Town, Enford, Wiltshire
Enford is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, in the northeast of Salisbury Plain. The village lies southeast of Devizes and north of Salisbury. The parish includes nine small settlements along both banks of the headwaters of the River Avon. Besides Enford, these are Compton, Coombe, East Chisenbury, Fifield, Littlecott, Longstreet, New Town and West Chisenbury. The name is derived from the Old English ''Enedford'' meaning 'duck ford'. History The parish carries much evidence of prehistoric activity, including bowl barrows. Lidbury Camp, on Littlecott Down, was occupied in the Iron Age and in the Romano-British period, and further evidence of Romano-British occupation has been found around Compton. Nicholstown-Newtown (usually called Nicholstown or Newtown) is a small area to the north-east of Southampton's city centre. To the north is Bevois Valley, to the east Northam and to the west and south is St Mary's. In the north of Newtown is the Mount Pleasant area, which spills over into the north of Northam. Stevenage ( ) is a large town and borough in Hertfordshire, England, about north of London. Stevenage is east of junctions 7 and 8 of the A1(M), between Letchworth Garden City to the north and Welwyn Garden City to the south. New Town, Luton
New Town is a district of Luton, just south east of the town centre, in Bedfordshire, England. It is roughly bounded by Castle Street and London Road to the west, Seymour Road to the East, New Town Street to the North, and Cutenhoe Road to the south. Local area Castle Street was the site of a medieval castle. The district has characteristic pubs and has traditionally been a working class area of the town. To alleviate the housing shortage of the 1960s several multi-story flats were built and an industrial park was added in the 1980s to attract new industries. Novo Mesto (; sl, Novo mesto; also known by other alternative names) is a city on a bend of the Krka River in the City Municipality of Novo Mesto in southeastern Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia. The town is traditionally considered the economic and cultural centre of the historical Lower Carniola region. Name Novo Mesto was attested in historical sources in 1365 as ''Růdolfswerde'' (and as ''Rudolfswerd'' in 1392 and ''Noua Mesta'' in 1419).
