New Taipei City Constituency VI () includes the western part of Banqiao in New Taipei City. The district was formerly known as Taipei County Constituency VI (2008-2010) and was created in 2008, when all local constituencies of the Legislative Yuan were reorganized to become single-member districts. Legislative Yuan
The Legislative Yuan is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. The Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 members, who are directly elected for 4-year terms by people of the Taiwan Area through a parallel voting system. Originally located in Nanking, the Legislative Yuan, along with the National Assembly (electoral college) and the Control Yuan (upper house), formed the tricameral parliament under the original 1947 Constitution. The Legislative Yuan previously had 759 members representing each constituencies of all provinces, municipalities, Tibet, Outer Mongolia and various professions. Until democratization, the Republic of China was an authoritarian state under Dang Guo, the Legislative Yuan had alternatively been characterized as a rubber stamp for the then-ruling regime of the Kuomintang. Banqiao District
Banqiao District () is a district and the seat of New Taipei City, Taiwan. It has the third-highest population density in Taiwan, with over . Until the creation of New Taipei City, Banqiao (then transliterated as Banciao or Pan-ch'iao) was an incorporated county-administered city and the former seat of Taipei County. Name origin The district's old name was ''Pang-kio'' (), which dates back to the Qing Dynasty during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1735 - 1796 AD). A wooden bridge, locally called ''Pang-kio-thau'' (枋橋頭), was built for pedestrians to cross a brook located in the west of today's Banqiao, the modern day Nanzigou (湳仔溝, literally "Nanzi Creek"). Lin Hung-chih
Lin Hung-chih (; born 22 August 1955) is a Taiwanese politician. Education Lin earned a bachelor's degree in transportation and communications management from National Cheng Kung University, before obtaining his master's in political science at National Chengchi University. Political career Lin launched a bid for a seat on the National Assembly in 1991, and served until 2000. While a member of the assembly, he was elected mayor of Banqiao, and reelected in 2001. Chang Hung-lu
Chang Hung-lu (; born 10 January 1972) is a Taiwanese politician. Education Chang obtained his bachelor's degree in political science from Soochow University and master's degree in education from National Taipei University of Education. Political career Chang is a close ally of Su Tseng-chang, having worked for him from 1996 to 2004. From 2002 to 2005, he led the Taipei County Bureau of Civil Affairs. Chang stepped down from the Democratic Progressive Party's Central Standing Committee in 2010. During his stint on the New Taipei City Council, ten members of the council were charged with "divulging secrets" in a council speakership election. New Taipei City
New Taipei City is a special municipality located in northern Taiwan. The city is home to an estimated population of 3,974,683 as of 2022, making it the most populous city of Taiwan, and also the second largest special municipality by area, behind Kaohsiung.
