Legislative Yuan
The Legislative Yuan is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. The Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 members, who are directly elected for 4-year terms by people of the Taiwan Area through a parallel voting system. Originally located in Nanking, the Legislative Yuan, along with the National Assembly (electoral college) and the Control Yuan (upper house), formed the tricameral parliament under the original 1947 Constitution. The Legislative Yuan previously had 759 members representing each constituencies of all provinces, municipalities, Tibet, Outer Mongolia and various professions. Until democratization, the Republic of China was an authoritarian state under Dang Guo, the Legislative Yuan had alternatively been characterized as a rubber stamp for the then-ruling regime of the Kuomintang. Sanchong District
Sanchong District () is a district in the western part of New Taipei City, Taiwan. With an area of 16.32 km2 and a population of 378,736 people (2022), it has the fourth highest population density in Taiwan and 23rd highest in the world, with over 23,900 people per km2. Geography Sanchong is bounded to the north and northwest by Luzhou, Wugu, the west by Xinzhuang, and is separated from Taipei City by the Tamsui River. History Sanchong was called ''Satengpo'' (), which literally means "The Third Plain" by the early settlers. The settlers from the modern-day Xinzhuang area moved up north and named the plains they settle as "The First Plain" (頭前埔, located in modern-day Xinzhuang District), "The Second Plain" (二重埔, located in modern-day Sanchong) and The Third Plain. Yu Tian
Yu Tian (; born 18 February 1947), born Yu Tsing-yuan (), is a Taiwanese pop singer in Mandarin and Hokkien. A member of the Democratic Progressive Party, Yu served as a member of the Legislative Yuan from 2008 to 2012, and was reelected to the office in 2019. Political career Within the Democratic Progressive Party, Yu Tian is allied with Yu Shyi-kun. He is also known for his support of Chen Shui-bian. Yu ran for New Taipei 3 in 2008, and defeated Kuomintang incumbent Chu Chun-hsiao by approximately 2,000 votes. Chu filed an unsuccessful lawsuit in an attempt to annul the election results. A separate case was brought against Yu supporter Wang Ying-lan, who was charged with making threats to the opposition. Wang was later released on bail. Gao Jyh-peng
Gao , or Gawgaw/Kawkaw, is a city in Mali and the capital of the Gao Region. The city is located on the River Niger, east-southeast of Timbuktu on the left bank at the junction with the Tilemsi valley. For much of its history Gao was an important commercial centre involved in the trans-Saharan trade. In the 9th century external Arabic writers described Gao as an important regional power, and by the end of the 10th century, the local ruler was said to be a Muslim. New Taipei City
New Taipei City is a special municipality located in northern Taiwan. The city is home to an estimated population of 3,974,683 as of 2022, making it the most populous city of Taiwan, and also the second largest special municipality by area, behind Kaohsiung. Chang Sho-wen
Chang Sho-wen (; born 7 May 1971) is a Taiwanese politician. He first won election to the Legislative Yuan in 2004 and was reelected in 2008. Partway through his second term, Chang was removed from office on charges of electoral fraud. He left the Kuomintang in 2015 and joined the People First Party. Political career Chang was first elected to the Legislative Yuan in 2004. During his 2004 campaign, he was questioned by Yunlin County prosecutors as part of a large investigation of vote buying. Chang was allowed to take his seat on the legislature. During part of his first term, he was the secretary-general of the Kuomintang caucus.
