New Republican Society
Republiek is a Dutch republican pressure group advocating the replacement of the Dutch Monarchy with a ''de facto'' parliamentary republic, founded in January 1998 in Amsterdam by Ewout Irrgang and Elisabeth van der Steenhoven, under the previous name Nieuw Republikeins Genootschap (NRG). It is a member organisation of the Alliance of European Republican Movements and is currently the largest organisation solely campaigning for a republican constitution for The Netherlands. Republic states that its mission is: "To achieve the abolition of the Dutch monarchy in favour of a democratic republic". From 2020, the board of Republic will be formed by a General Board and a Daily Board. The daily board has a seat on the general board and is supported in its activities by a campaign team. The Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (; NOS ; English: Dutch Broadcasting Foundation) is one of the broadcasting organisations making up the Netherlands Public Broadcasting system. It has a special statutory obligation to make news and sports programmes for the three Dutch public television channels and the Dutch public radio services. It is funded by the Dutch government. Arjen Henrik Lubach (; born 22 October 1979) is a Dutch comedian, author, music producer and television presenter. He hosted the weekly news satire television show ''Zondag met Lubach''. Media circus is a colloquial metaphor, or idiom, describing a news event for which the level of media coverage—measured by such factors as the number of reporters at the scene and the amount of material broadcast or published—is perceived to be excessive or out of proportion to the event being covered.
