New Political Centre – Girchi ( ka, ახალი პოლიტიკური ცენტრი – გირჩი, tr, ) is a Right-libertarianism, right-libertarian List of political parties in Georgia (country), political party in Georgia (country), Georgia. It was founded in 2015 by dissenting members of United National Movement (Georgia), United National Movement, and was initially led by co-founder Zurab Japaridze until 2018. Since then Iago Khvichia has served as the party's chairman. The party first entered 2020 Georgian parliamentary election, parliament in 2020 with four deputies, with help of the lowered threshold. Internal disagreements during the 2020–2021 Georgian political crisis and a scandal triggered Japaridze's departure from the part, setting up Girchi - More Freedom. Iago Khvichia ( ka, იაგო ხვიჩია; born on May 19, 1982) is a Georgian politician who served as a member of Parliament from 2020 to 2024. He is the chairman of New Political Center — Girchi, a right-libertarianism, right-libertarian political party. Biography Early life and legal career Iago Khvichia was born on May 19, 1982, in Didi Tchqoni, a village in then-Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Georgia's Martvili Municipality, Martvili district. In 2004, he graduated from Tbilisi State University with a degree in jurisprudence and became a lawyer, first working for the Association of Young Economists of Georgia, a conservative think-tank, where he specialized in licensing and permitting regulations. In 2007, he joined the public sector and became head of the Legal Department of the Tbilisi Office of the National Agency of Public Registration, a position he kept until 2012.
