New Mills AFC
New Mills Association Football Club ('The Millers') are an English football club based in New Mills, Derbyshire. They currently play in the . History Formed in 1886 New Mills quickly progressed through the local leagues in its early days and even had a spell in the Manchester League. However, the club disbanded and a new team was formed, New Mills St Georges, which in a period up to World War I, won a number of titles, including the Derbyshire Minor Cup. In 1919 the club began playing again and dropped the St Georges from its name. It joined the Manchester League once again and finished top in 1924 and, after finishing as runner-up the following season, lifted the championship once again in 1926. As well as winning the league, New Mills also won the Derbyshire Cup three seasons out of four. The club was extremely well supported and had regular gates of around 3000. New Mills
New Mills is a town in the Borough of High Peak, Derbyshire, England, south-east of Stockport and from Manchester at the confluence of the River Goyt and Sett. It is close to the border with Cheshire and above the Torrs, a deep gorge cut through carboniferous sandstone, on the north-western edge of the Peak District national park. New Mills has a population of approximately 12,000, in a civil parish which includes the villages and hamlets of Whitle, Thornsett, Hague Bar, Rowarth, Brookbottom, Gowhole and Birch Vale. New Mills was first noted for coal mining, then for cotton spinning, bleaching and Calico (textile), calico printing. Keith Briggs (footballer)
Keith Briggs (born 11 December 1981) is an English football coach and former professional player. Career Born in Glossop, Derbyshire, Briggs began his career as a trainee Stockport County in August 1999 and made his debut in a League Cup 1st round tie against Oldham in the same month. He made 68 league and cup appearances for Stockport before joining Norwich City in January 2003 for £65,000, where he was unable to establish a regular place in the first team and spent a loan spell at Crewe Alexandra. He made three league appearances during Norwich's 2003–04 season after which they were promoted to the Premier League as First Division champions. Briggs was released by Norwich in September 2004 and returned to Stockport in January 2005. After making a further 98 appearances for Stockport County, his contract was not renewed and he joined Shrewsbury Town on non-contract terms in January 2008. The North West Counties Football League is a association football, football league in the North West England, North West of England. Since 2019–20, the league has covered the Isle of Man, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cumbria, northern Staffordshire, northern Shropshire, the far west of West Yorkshire, and the High Peak, Derbyshire, High Peak area of Derbyshire. A coxless four is a rowing boat used in the sport of competitive rowing. It is designed for four persons who propel the boat with sweep oars, without a coxswain. The crew consists of four rowers, each having one oar. There are two rowers on the stroke side (rower's right hand side) and two on the bow side (rower's lefthand side). There is no coxswain, but the rudder is controlled by one of the crew, normally with the rudder cable attached to the toe of one of their shoes which can pivot about the ball of the foot, moving the cable left or right. Stockport is a town and borough in Greater Manchester, England, south-east of Manchester, south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne and north of Macclesfield. The River Goyt and Tame merge to create the River Mersey here. Harry Redknapp
Henry James Redknapp (born 2 March 1947) is an English former football manager and player. He has previously managed AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United, Portsmouth, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers and Birmingham City. In his second spell at Portsmouth, he managed the side that won the 2008 FA Cup. At the conclusion of the 2009–10 season, he guided Tottenham into the UEFA Champions League.
