New Forests Of Aarhus
New Forests of Aarhus (Danish: ''De nye Aarhus Skove'') is the collective name for a series of woodlands near the city of Aarhus in Denmark. All the forests have recently been planted as part of the plan called ''Aarhus omkranset af skov'' (lit: Aarhus surrounded by forest). The plan was initiated by the Aarhus city council in 1988, with the overall aim of doubling the municipality's forested area by the year 2000. As the old forests comprised 1,300 ha, there is controversy whether this goal has been met entirely. Woodlands The New Forests of Aarhus comprise these newly raised and public woodlands: * Skødstrup Skov at 25 ha * Bærmose Skov at 80 ha * Lisbjerg Skov at 100 ha * Mollerup Skov at 97 ha * Brendstrup Skov at 83 ha * Gjellerup Skov at 22 ha * Tranbjerg Skov at 73 ha * Solbjerg Skov at 30 ha The total woodland area totals about 510 ha. Larch
Larches are deciduous conifers in the genus ''Larix'', of the family Pinaceae (subfamily Laricoideae). Growing from tall, they are native to much of the cooler temperate northern hemisphere, on lowlands in the north and high on mountains further south. Larches are among the dominant plants in the boreal forests of Siberia and Canada. Although they are conifers, larches are deciduous trees that lose their needles in the autumn. Etymology The English name Larch ultimately derives from the Latin "larigna," named after the ancient settlement of Larignum. The story of its naming was preserved by Vitruvius: It is worth while to know how this wood was discovered. Tranbjerg Skov
Tranbjerg J is a town in Aarhus in Denmark. "J" is for Jutland to distinguish this place from a similarly named place on Zealand, and is not used in daily parlance. History Tranbjerg was formerly a small rural village but is now a suburb of Aarhus about 10 kilometers south of the city center. Tranbjerg Church is a typical old Danish village church, built in the later part of the 1100s, but with several later adjustments and additions. It is dedicated to Saint Ursula and the eleven thousand handmaidens. In 1737, King Christian VI gave charter to the Tranbjerg parish for the public school of Tranbjerg Skole. The school was placed right next to the church, but newer and larger schoolbuildings were erected elsewhere in the 1970s. In 2013, Tranbjerg Skole and Grønløkkeskolen - another local public school - merged to form the Tranbjergskolen public school. Aarhus Municipality
Aarhus Municipality ( da, Aarhus Kommune), known as Århus Municipality ( da, Århus Kommune) until 2011, is a municipality in Central Denmark Region, on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of , and has a population of 349,983 as of 2020. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Aarhus. Biodiversity or biological diversity is the variety and variability of life on Earth. Favrskov Municipality ( da, Favrskov Kommune, ) is a municipality in Central Denmark Region in Denmark north of Aarhus and is a part of the Aarhus area. True Skov
True Skov (True Forest) is a woodland, west of Skjoldhøjkilen in Aarhus, Denmark. True Skov is named after the small village of True and forms part of the New Forests of Aarhus. It is a relatively recent afforestation - and the largest within the region of Søhøjlandet -, raised primarily in 1994 on former agricultural fields. New trees are still being planted here occasionally and the forest is planned to cover a total of 650 ha, at some point in the future. Although located entirely within Aarhus Municipality, True Skov is administered by the State of Denmark.
