Chester New Bridge
Chester New Bridge is a Grade II* listed medieval stone bridge over the River Wear near Chester-le-Street in County Durham, England. It carries Black Drive, the private entrance road to Lambton Castle, across the Wear just north of the A1052 road bridge, which superseded it in 1926. Frank Graham in ''Bridges of Northumberland and Durham'' describes it as "a fine 14th century bridge" but the official English Heritage listing citation considers it to be "probably C15". The parapet, which English Heritage suggest may be partly rebuilt, bears a worn inscription referring to "Charles Swinburne's Leap", an incident in which a horse and its rider were killed falling from the bridge. The bridge has a span of approximately and four pointed arches with cutwaters on each pier. New Bridge, Mitrovica
The New Bridge (also known as Mitrovica Bridge, Ibar River Bridge or with the unofficial Austerlitz Bridge) is a steel truss bridge crossing the Ibar river in Mitrovica, a city in Serbian enclave of northern Kosovo. The New Bridge has become an iconic symbol of Kosovo division, as it separates around 80,000 Kosovo Albanians in the south from around 50 000 Serbs and other nationalities living in the north. It was used as a military checkpoint and provides a ''de facto'' border and buffer zone between the northern Serbian enclaves and the rest of Kosovo. Today the bridge is open to pedestrians and there are only Carabinieri patrols from KFOR- MSU and Kosovo Police, but there is no longer any checkpoint. However, the bridge is more than symbolic to Serbia. It is important part for Serbian people who recognize this north part of Kosovo as their own. Newbridge, River Dart
Newbridge or New Bridge is a Grade II* listed medieval bridge over the River Dart, Dartmoor, Devon, England. It is on the road between Ashburton and Two Bridges, and connects Aish Tor to Holne Chase. A car park is located next to the bridge and is often frequented by families, walkers, and watersports enthusiasts, though the narrowness of both this bridge and Holne Bridge means that the size of vehicles is restricted on this road. The bridge is constructed of local granite and has three semicircular arches, one smaller than the others. It was built in 1413, at the same time as the nearby Holne Bridge was reconstructed. The two pillars have cutwaters to deflect the flow of water; these extend up to road level and provide triangular refuges for pedestrians. The Pont Neuf (, "New Bridge") is the oldest standing bridge across the river Seine in Paris, France. It stands by the western (downstream) point of the Île de la Cité, the island in the middle of the river that was, between 250 and 225 BC, the birthplace of Paris, then known as Lutetia and, during the medieval period, the heart of the city. The bridge is composed of two separate spans, one of five arches joining the left bank to the ''Île de la Cité'', another of seven joining the island to the right bank. The ''Puente Nuevo'' (, "New Bridge") is the newest and largest of three bridges that span the chasm that carries the Guadalevín River and divides the city of Ronda, in southern Spain. Completed in 1793, the architect was José Martin de Aldehuela and the chief builder was Juan Antonio Díaz Machuca. The construction of the newest bridge (the one standing as of 2017) was started in 1759 and took 34 years. There is a chamber above the central arch that was used for a variety of purposes, including as a prison. New Bridge was a prosperous mill hamlet, centered upon a bridge strategically placed at the narrows of the Hackensack River. In the American Revolution, New Bridge Landing was the site of a strategic bridge crossing the Hackensack River, where General George Washington led his troops in retreat from British forces November 20, 1776. Eleven engagements took place here throughout the war. The current Draw Bridge at New Bridge was installed in 1889 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 5, 1989. Located at the junction of Kinderkamack Road ( County Route 503) and Grand Avenue ( County Route S-49) and next to Route 4, the station is serviced by Pascack Valley Line trains running between Hoboken Terminal in Hoboken and Spring Valley station in the eponymous village in Rockland County, New York.
