New Bamberg Hut
The New Bamberg Hut (german: Neue Bamberger Hütte) lies at 1,756 m AMSL in the Kelchsau in the Kitzbühel Alps in Austria and is a mountain hut owned by the German Alpine Club's Bamberg Section. The hut may be reached either from the Kelchsau – from the ''Gasthof Wegscheid'' inn in the ''Kurzen Grund'' in just under 2 hours or from Salzburg state, from ''Gasthof Ronach'' on the old Gerlos Road over the ''Salzachjoch'' saddle in about 3½ hours. History The first Bamberg Hut was built in 1893/94 by the Bamberg Section at the foot of Piz Boè in the Sella Group in the Dolomites. They were dispossessed of this hut in 1919 by the Treaty of Saint Germain and the hut was given to the Club Alpino Italiano's ''Società degli Alpinisti Tridentini'' Section. Hopfgarten Im Brixental
Hopfgarten im Brixental is a market town in the Austrian state of Tyrol in the Kitzbühel district. It is located at an elevation of 622 m above sea level. With an area of 166.57 km² it is the largest municipality in the district, and among the largest in Tyrol. Population Tourism It is a popular place for all levels of skier with a variety of slopes ranging from ''black slopes'' for expert skiers to ''nursery slopes'' for beginners, and featuring a ski school. There are also many neighbouring towns with an extended variety of slopes including Itter a perfect slope for those early skiing lessons. A trip on the gondola is worth doing if just for the view at the top. You can even parapent off the top if you choose. For the non-thrill-seekers there are also plenty of options. Kröndlhorn
The Kröndlhorn is a high mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps in Austria. It is one of the highest mountains on the main crest of the Kitzbühel Alps. The state border between Tyrol and Salzburger Land runs over its summit. Location The Kröndlhorn rises north of the Salzach valley, southeast of the Kelchsau valley and southwest of the Windau valley. A secondary ridge to the main crest of the Kitzbühel Alps runs from the summit of the Kröndelhorn northwards in a curve. This ridge surrounds the cirque in which the mountain lake of the Reinkarsee has formed, at a height of 2,134 m. This cirque is the main source region of the Windauer Ache stream. Salzachgeier
The Salzachgeier () is a rugged peak on the edge of the Kitzbühel Alps on the border of the Austrian states of Salzburg and Tyrol. In the cirques and high alpine meadows (''Hochalmen'') of its eastern slopes and the two neighbouring peaks of ''Fünfmandling'' (2,401 m) and ''Schwebenkopf'' (2,354 m) are the headstreams of the Salzach, the largest river north of the Salzburg Central Alps. The Salzachgeier has a double summit where five sharp ridges run together. The eastern summit is only three metres lower and towers immediately above the two aforementioned source regions (the Salzachboden and Schwebenalm). Schafsiedel
The Schafsiedel is a high mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps in Austria. It is one of the highest peaks on the main crest of the Kitzbühel Alps. It also the summit most frequently climbed from the New Bamberg Hut, not least because of the 3 mountain lakes that are passed en route: the photogenic lower lake, the green middle lake and the rock-rimmed upper lake. About 500 m south of the summit is the Aleitenspitze (), which is easily reached from the Schafsiedel. The Italian front or Alpine front ( it, Fronte alpino, "Alpine front"; in german: Gebirgskrieg, "Mountain war") involved a series of battles at the border between Austria-Hungary and Italy, fought between 1915 and 1918 in the course of World War I. Following secret promises made by the Allies in the 1915 Treaty of London, Italy entered the war aiming to annex the Austrian Littoral, northern Dalmatia, and the territories of present-day Trentino and South Tyrol. Club Alpino Italiano
The Club Alpino Italiano is the senior Italian alpine club which stages climbing competitions, operates alpine huts, marks and maintains paths, and is active in protecting the Alpine environment. It was founded in Turin in 1863 by the then finance minister, and mountaineer, Quintino Sella; together with the Swiss Alpine Club, founded in the same year, it is the second oldest Alpine Club in the world, only preceded by the British Alpine Club. Sella Group
The Sella group (german: Sellagruppe, Ladin: ''Mëisules'' or ''L Sela'') is a plateau-shaped massif in the Dolomites mountains of northern Italy. The Sella lies north of the Marmolada and to the east of the Langkofel. The highest peak is Piz Boè at above sea level. The Sella lies between the four Ladin valleys of Badia, Gherdëina, Fascia, and Fodom and is divided between the provinces of South Tyrol, Trentino and Belluno. It can be driven around by car crossing the Campolongo Pass, Pordoi Pass, Sella Pass, and Gardena Pass. Gerlos Road
Gerlos is a municipality with 793 inhabitants (as of Jan. 2019) in Schwaz district of the Austrian state of Tyrol. The village is popular with skiing tourists, mainly families, as there is easy access to Zillertal Arena Centre on Isskogel. The village lies in the Zell am Ziller judicial district. The municipality of Gerlos has seven districts: Au, Gmünd, Innertal, Mitterhof, Oberhof, Ried and Schwarzach.
