New Alternatives
The New Alternatives (Korean: 대안신당) was a South Korean political party founded in 2020. History The New Alternatives was originally organised by the conservative dissidents of the Party for Democracy and Peace (PDP) on 16 July 2019, as the Alternative Political Alliance of Change and Hope (Korean: 변화와 희망의 대안정치연대). It was initially a part of PDP, but then split from PDP on 12 August. It was refounded as a preparatory committee on 17 November, with the current name. It contains 8 MPs but one of them ( Chang Jung-sook) is a PR of Bareunmirae Party who would like to exit. Lee Yong-joo and Chung In-hwa was excluded. On 12 January 2020, it held the official formation convention and elected Choi Gyung-hwan as its president. It planned to be the largest party in the 2020 election. Yu Sung-yup
Yu Sung-yup (Korean: 유성엽, born 25 January 1960) is a South Korean politician who was the Member of the National Assembly for Jeongeup from 2008 (also for Gochang from 2016) to 2020. He was also the co-presidents of the Minsaeng Party, serving with Park Joo-hyun. He formerly served the mayor of Jeongeup from 2002 to 2006. As a former member of the Party for Democracy and Peace, he was the party's vice president from 2018 to 2019 and the parliamentary leader from May to August 2019. Career Yu was the candidate for mayor of Jeongup from the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP) during the local election in 2002. He defeated the incumbent Kuk Seung-rock who faced harsh criticisms at the end of his term. He left the MDP and joined the Uri Party in October 2003. A semi-presidential republic, is a republic in which a president exists alongside a prime minister and a cabinet, with the latter two being responsible to the legislature of the state. It differs from a parliamentary republic in that it has a popularly elected head of state and from the presidential system in that the cabinet, although named by the president, is responsible to the legislature, which may force the cabinet to resign through a motion of no confidence. Conscription (also called the draft in the United States) is the state-mandated enlistment of people in a national service, mainly a military service.
