Nevis Reformation Party
The Nevis Reformation Party is a Nevis-based political party in Saint Kitts and Nevis. The party currently holds none of the eleven seats in the National Assembly of Saint Kitts and Nevis, National Assembly. It is the official opposition party on Nevis, holding two of five seats in the Nevis Island Assembly after losing to the Concerned Citizens' Movement, CCM in the Nevis Island Assembly#Election results, 2022 election. Since 2020, the NRP has been led by businesswoman and environmental consultant Janice Daniel-Hodge, the first female to lead a political party in the country and daughter of former Premier of Nevis Simeon Daniel. History The party was established on 1 August 1970. Janice Daniel-Hodge
Janice Daniel-Hodge (born 17 April 1962 in England) is a businesswoman, politician and environmental consultant from Saint Kitts and Nevis. Career She graduated from St. Francis College in New York with a degree in biology. In 1987 she also acquired a degree from Alabama A&M University in microbiology. She also has a degree from the University of the Virgin Islands. She was a director and chairperson of The Bank of Nevis Ltd. from 2006 to 2016, and is currently a director at The Bank of Nevis International, Ltd. In 2020, she became the first female leader of a political party in the country, leading the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP). In 2021, she departed from the Bank of Nevis International. She led her party into the 2022 Saint Kitts and Nevis general election, Saint Kitts and Nevis general election and the 2022 Nevis Island Assembly election, Nevis Island Assembly election in 2022. 2022 Saint Kitts And Nevis General Election
Snap general elections were held in Saint Kitts and Nevis on 5 August 2022, following the decision of incumbent prime minister Timothy Harris to dissolve the parliament on 11 May. Snap elections are constitutionally required within ninety days following the dissolution of parliament. The elections were the first in the country with a female party leader, with businesswoman and environmental consultant Janice Daniel-Hodge leading the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP), which was founded by her father, former Premier of Nevis and pro-Nevis secessionist Simeon Daniel. However, the NRP failed to win a seat, despite seeing a small overall increase in vote share. The elections brought the Saint Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, led by Terrance Drew, back to power for the first time since their loss in 2015. 2020 Saint Kitts And Nevis General Election
General elections were held in Saint Kitts and Nevis on Friday 5 June 2020. The ruling coalition, Team Unity consisting of PAM, CCM and PLP, won a landslide victory with nine out of the eleven directly elected deputies, and netting a combined 54.85% of the vote. However, similar to the prior elections in 2015, the individual party that won the most votes (PAM) did not win the most seats. Joseph Walcott Parry was born 2 February 1948 in Cotton Ground, educated in Charlestown Secondary School and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics at the University of the West Indies. General elections were held in Saint Kitts and Nevis on 25 January 2010 for eleven of the fourteen or fifteen seats in the National Assembly.
