Neville Godwin
Neville Godwin (born 31 January 1975) is a former tennis player from South Africa. Godwin turned professional in 1994. The right-hander won one singles title (2001 Newport) in his career, and reached his highest individual ranking on the ATP Tour in March 1997, when he became World No. 90. His highest world ranking for doubles was World No. 57. At the 1996 Wimbledon tournament, Godwin had his best finish at a Grand Slam, when he reached the fourth round as a qualifier, defeating Cristiano Caratti, compatriot Grant Stafford and Boris Becker before losing to Alex Rădulescu. He finished his career in 2003. He now lives in his hometown of Johannesburg with his wife, Nicky and two sons, Oliver and James. He coached performance players out of the Wanderers Club for 5 years, before coaching South African player Kevin Anderson to a world top 10 ranking and a US Open final appearance in 2017. James Sekulov
James Sekulov (born 13 October 1976) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Career Sekulov was a boys' doubles finalist at the 1993 US Open, partnering Ben Ellwood. He finished that year as the world's seventh-ranked junior singles player. The right-handed Australian made his senior Grand Slam debut in the 1998 US Open and lost in the opening round to Davide Sanguinetti. In 1999, Sekulov reached the semi-finals of the Mercedes-Benz Cup in Los Angeles. To make the semi-finals, where he was beaten by Pete Sampras, Sekulov managed wins over Czech Martin Damm, world number 18 Thomas Enqvist and former French Open champion Michael Chang. Ben Ellwood
Ben Ellwood (born 12 March 1976) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Career An outstanding junior, Ellwood won the boys' singles at the 1994 Australian Open, defeating Andrew Ilie in the final. He was the boys' doubles champion as well (with Mark Philippoussis) and also went on to win the boys' doubles at the 1994 Wimbledon Championships and 1994 US Open (with Philippousssis and Nicolás Lapentti, respectively). This made Ellwood the first ever player to win the boys' doubles at the Australian Open, Wimbledon Championships and US Open in the same year. Ellwood made his Grand Slam debut in the 1995 Australian Open and came close to upsetting world number 46 Fabrice Santoro in the opening round. The US Open Tennis Championships is a hardcourt tennis tournament held annually in Queens, New York. The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts, with retractable roofs over the two main courts since 2019. James Greenhalgh
James Greenhalgh (born 19 February 1975) is a former professional tennis player from New Zealand. Career Greenhalgh, a doubles specialist, was born in England, but at the age of four moved to New Zealand. In his junior career he partnered countryman Steven Downs and the pair were boys' doubles champion at the 1993 French Open and 1993 Wimbledon Championships. They defeated South Africans Neville Godwin and Gareth Williams in both finals. In 1999, Greenhalgh, with partner Grant Silcock, won the Hong Kong Open. They defeated the experienced pairing of Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor in the semi final and won the final in a walkover, after one of their opponents, Andre Agassi, withdrew with a shoulder injury. Steven Downs (born 8 September 1975) is a former professional tennis player from New Zealand. Biography Downs was a leading international junior, who was the world number one doubles player in 1993 and designated ITF World Champion. He reached a final at all four Grand Slam tournaments in 1993. With partner James Greenhalgh, he won two boys' doubles titles, the French Open and Wimbledon Championships. Downs, who played cricket for Auckland up to the Under 14s, made the singles final at the Australian Open and was runner-up to Marcelo Ríos at the US Open, for a year-end number five ranking. Following his junior success in 1993, Downs turned professional and in 1994 made his first ATP Tour tournament in Auckland. Gareth Williams (born 27 August 1975) is a former professional tennis player from South Africa. Biography Born in Pretoria, Williams was a doubles specialist, who had success as a junior in 1993 when he made three junior grand slam finals. After finishing runner-up at both the French Open and Wimbledon, he and Neville Godwin made a third successive final at the 1993 US Open, defeating the Australian pairing of Ben Ellwood and James Sekulov. He and Godwin also competed in several ATP Tour events, including Durban in 1993, where they made the quarter-finals. In the mid-1990s he left the professional circuit to play collegiate tennis in the United States at the University of Tulsa (UT).
