Nevada Sports Network
Nevada Sports Network (NSN) is an events and sports-broadcasting group based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. It was founded in 1996 by Alex Shelton and is known for its production of many NCAA bowl game, NCAA Football and Basketball Games of the Week, Nevada Sports Broadcasting of NIAA Football and Basketball Championships as well as branded radio and television shows with Mountain West Conference and live Sporting Events producing radio and television broadcasts. As a sports-broadcasting group, Nevada Sports Network acquires the rights for live collegiate and pro teams to be broadcast on the Las Vegas Sports Network stations: KWWN (ESPN Radio), KENO (AM), KENO (ESPN Deportes Radio), KKGK (Fox Sports Radio 98.9 FM and 1340 AM), and KRLV (AM), KRLV (NBC Sports Radio), making them one of the largest rights holders for collegiate athletics nationwide. KWWN
KWWN (1100 AM) is a radio station licensed to Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The station is owned by Lotus Communications. Programming includes the UNLV Rebels football and men's basketball teams, the Las Vegas Aces, ESPN Radio talk shows and play-by-play, and various local talk shows. Its studios are located in the unincorporated community of Spring Valley in Clark County and its transmitter is located in North Las Vegas. Station history KWWN officially signed on in December 2007, and was running tests of its transmitter for several months. These tests were mainly to arrange the nighttime directional signal of the station, so it would not interfere with nearby KNZZ or other stations on 1100 kHz. ESPN Radio, which is alternately platform-agnostically branded as ESPN Audio, is an American sports radio network and extension of the ESPN television network. It was launched on January 1, 1992, under the original banner of "SportsRadio ESPN". The network is based out of the ESPN campus in Bristol, Connecticut, with multiple studio facilities nationwide, along with home studios. The network airs a regular schedule of daily and weekly programming as well as live radio play-by-play of sporting events. ESPN Radio is broadcast to hundreds of affiliate stations, along with national and Canadian carriage on Sirius XM. KENO (AM)
KENO (1460 kHz) is a Spanish language sports/talk AM radio station in Las Vegas, Nevada owned by Lotus Communications. Its studios are located in the unincorporated community of Spring Valley in Clark County and its transmitter is located northwest of downtown Las Vegas. History KENO, Las Vegas' first successful radio station, was founded in 1941 by Laura Belle and Maxwell Kelch. (John Heaton had operated KGIX from 1930 to 1935, but low power and limited hours made it unprofitable.) ESPN Deportes Radio was an American Spanish language sports radio network created and produced by Disney-owned ESPN. Programming included call-in talk shows and commentary from hosts about a full range of sporting events, including soccer, American football, baseball and boxing. The network had stations in 15 states in the United States (Arizona, California, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and Washington). NBC Sports Radio was a sports radio network that debuted on September 4, 2012. The network content was produced by the NBC Sports Group division of NBCUniversal and distributed by Westwood One, which is the corporate successor to the remains of the original NBC Radio Network that was dissolved in the 1980s. NBC Sports Radio was available through over 300 affiliates throughout the United States as of September 2013, as well as through live streaming on NBCSportsRadio.com, NBCSports.com, WestwoodOneSports.com, and the affiliates' websites. Lee Pete
Leeland C. Pete (November 14, 1924March 25, 2010) was an American sports-talk radio broadcaster. After serving as an Army Air Force pilot in World War II, he played college football as a quarterback at the University of Toledo. Pete also played baseball for the Rockets as an outfielder, and was inducted into the school's Varsity T Hall of Fame in 1986. He tried out unsuccessfully with the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). In 1954, Pete began his sports radio career at a small station in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. After moving to Las Vegas in 1970, he established a sports talk radio show on KDWN in 1981. The 50,000-watt station had a night signal that was heard as far north as British Columbia, south to Mexico, east to the Plains, and west to some islands in the Pacific Ocean. The company takes its name from an earlier network also named Westwood One, a company founded in 1978.
