''Nevada'' is a 1935 American Western film directed by Charles Barton and written by Garnett Weston and Stuart Anthony. It is based on the 1928 novel ''Nevada'' by Zane Grey. The film stars Buster Crabbe, Kathleen Burke, Syd Saylor, Monte Blue, William Duncan and Richard Carle. The film was released on November 29, 1935, by Paramount Pictures. The film's sets were designed by the art director David S. Garber. Charles Barton (director)
Charles Barton (May 25, 1902December 5, 1981) was an American film and vaudeville actor and film director. He won an Oscar for best assistant director in 1933. His first film as a director was the Zane Grey feature '' Wagon Wheels'', starring Randolph Scott, in 1934. Barton worked in Hollywood B-movie units. From 1946, he was a principal director of the Abbott and Costello comedies, such as '' The Time of Their Lives'', '' Buck Privates Come Home,'' '' Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein,'' and ''Africa Screams''. He later directed Walt Disney films such as '' The Shaggy Dog'' and ''Toby Tyler''. His extensive work for television included every episode of ''Amos 'n' Andy'' in the 1950s, a total of 90 episodes of '' Dennis the Menace'' in the 1960s, and 106 episodes of ''Family Affair'' from 1967 to 1971. Oscar George "Dutch" Hendrian (January 19, 1896 – December 13, 1953) was an American actor and former American football player in the National Football League. Career Football Hendrian first played college football at the University of Pittsburgh where he played on the school's freshman football team in 1919. He also played on the school's freshman baseball team and performed in the university's student theatrical Cap and Gown Club in the spring of 1920. Hendrian then transferred to Princeton University where he finished out his college football career. He started his professional career as a running back in the NFL with the Akron Pros in 1923. William Desmond (actor)
William Desmond (born William Mannion; January 23, 1878 – November 3, 1949) was an American actor. He appeared in more than 200 films between 1915 and 1948. He was nicknamed "The King of the Silent Serials." Born William Mannion in Horseheads, New York, he was raised in New York City. He later changed his surname to a stage name. He started out in vaudeville and the legitimate stage before making his film debut. In 1919, he married his co-star Mary McIvor, with whom he had two daughters. On November 3, 1949, Desmond died at age 71 of a heart attack in Los Angeles, California. He is interred at the Chapel of the Pines Crematory, Los Angeles.
