Neumarkt Theatre
The Theater am Neumarkt ( en, Theater at Neumarkt) or by its present official name Theater Neumarkt is a Theater (structure), theatre in the Swiss German language, German-speaking Switzerland situated at Neumarkt, Zürich. It is part of the building complex ''Bilgeriturm''–Neumarkt and also houses the ''Hottinger'' guild for two days a year. History The building was constructed by David Morf in 1742 as the guild house of the ''Schumacher'' (shoemakers) guild and was later used as the meeting point of the Communist Party of Switzerland that was there founded in 1923. The government of the city of Zürich bought the building in 1933, since 1966 it houses the present Neumarkt Theater, as well as the ''Neumarkt'' restaurant in the ground floor. The hall in the second floor probably was used sporadically as a venue in the 18th century by the then guild house. Neumarkt is a street and a historical area in the Rathaus quarter (Altstadt) of the city of Zürich in Switzerland. Werdinsel, also known as Limmatauen Werdhölzli, is an island and protected area in the Limmat in Switzerland. Geography Located in the former independent municipality of Höngg, today the river island is a popular recreation area, public park and bath in the Limmat, situated in the northernly suburban area of the Limmat Valley in Zürich. The island has a maximum length of about and a maximum width of about . Its highest point is about above sea level, a few metres above the river level at Zürich-Höngg. The Arulmiku Sivan Temple is a Hindu temple located in the municipality of Glattbrugg in the Canton of Zürich in Switzerland. History In the 1990s, an interreligious society was established in the canton of Zürich to support the foundation of a centre for spiritual and cultural care of Tamil people in Switzerland, as well as to preserve and maintain the Tamil culture of the approximatively 35,000 (around 20,000 in the canton of Zürich) Tamil people of Sri Lankan origin living in Switzerland.
