Neue Messe München
Neue Messe München is an exhibition center in the Messestadt Riem area in the eastern district of Munich Trudering-Riem built in 1994 until 1998. It is operated by Messe München. Location and transport The exhibition center was built on the northern half of the former Munich-Riem airport. It is bordered by the south Willy-Brandt-Allee and the residential development of Riem Messestadt and Riem arcades, there are also the two underground stations for the U2 line, Messestadt West and East located there. The Bundesautobahn 94 passes to the north and the exhibition grounds are connected with two highway exits. Further north is the S-Bahn station in Munich-Riem, where the transportation of freight to the fairgrounds runs since 2001. A direct connection of the S-Bahn to the fairgrounds is being discussed throughout the course of the construction of the Erding Ring Closure, which would also allow for a direct connection to the new Munich Airport. Munich S-Bahn
The Munich S-Bahn (german: S-Bahn München) is an Railway electrification system, electric rail transit system in Munich, Germany. "S-Bahn" is the German abbreviation for ''Stadtschnellbahn'' (literally, "urban rapid rail"), and the Munich S-Bahn exhibits characteristics of both rapid transit and commuter rail systems. The Munich S-Bahn network is operated by S-Bahn München, a subsidiary of DB Regio Bayern, which is itself a subsidiary of the German national railway company, Deutsche Bahn. It is integrated into the Munich Transport and Tariff Association (''Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund'', MVV) and interconnected throughout the city with the locally owned Munich U-Bahn. Stephan Huber
Stephan Huber (born 1952 in Lindenberg im Allgäu) is a German sculptor and object artist. Life After his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich (1971–1978), Huber received a grant for the P.S.1 studio programme in New York (now MoMA PS1). He has since exhibited internationally, including Documenta VIII in 1987 and the Venice Biennale in 1999 as well as numerous one person shows (Kunstverein Hannover, Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig, Kunsthalle Mannheim, Von-der-Heydt-Museum, Wuppertal, Third Eye Centre, Glasgow, Villa Romana, Florence, Bonner Kunstverein, Westfälischer Kunstverein, Münster, Lenbachhaus, Munich and others). Bauma (trade Fair)
The bauma (International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles and Construction Equipment) is the world's largest trade fair in the construction industry. The trade fair, which can be visited by anyone, is held every three years on the grounds of the Neue Messe München and lasts for seven days. Its organizer is Messe München. 2006 FIFA World Cup
The 2006 FIFA World Cup, also branded as Germany 2006, was the 18th FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international football world championship tournament. It was held from 9 June to 9 July 2006 in Germany, which had won the right to host the event in July 2000. Teams representing 198 national football associations from all six populated continents participated in the qualification process which began in September 2003. Thirty-one teams qualified from this process along with hosts Germany for the finals tournament. The convention center ICM–Internationales Congress Center München belongs to Messe München. It is structurally integrated into the exhibition center in Munich's Messestadt Riem and has been operating since 1998 together with Messe München. International medical and scientific congresses, general meetings of listed companies as well as events take place in the ICM. Erding Ring Closure
The Erding ring closure (german: Erdinger Ringschluss) is a project to build a long, double-track railway that is planned to run from Freising via Munich Airport to Erding. Route Line 5559 would run from Freising station as a four-track line together with line 5500 (the Munich–Regensburg railway) to Neufahrn North junction (''Abzweig Neufahrn-Nord''). It would run over the "Neufahrn counter curve" (''Neufahrner Gegenkurve'') to reach line 5557 (the Neufahrn Link) at Neufahrn East junction (''Abzweig Neufahrn-Ost'') and connect with line 5556 (Munich East–Munich Airport railway) at Airport West junction (''Abzweig Flughafen-West''). München-Riem Station
Munich-Riem station is an S-Bahn station and container terminal in the east of Munich in the district of Trudering-Riem on the Munich–Mühldorf railway in the German state of Bavaria. The station is served by the Munich S-Bahn and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. History Riem station was established on 1 May 1871 with opening of the railway to Mühldorf.
