Neuchâtel Xamax Football Club Serrières or Neuchâtel Xamax FCS () is a Swiss football club based in Neuchâtel. It was created in 1970 through a merger between FC Cantonal, founded in 1906 and Swiss champions of 1916, and FC Xamax founded in 1912. The name ''Xamax'' comes from legendary Swiss international player 'Xam' Max Abegglen, one of the founding members. Xamax Neuchâtel FCS obtained its current name after a merger with FC Serrières, another side from Neuchâtel, in May 2013. They have been champions of Switzerland on two occasions, in successive years in 1987 and 1988. Stade De La Maladière
Stade de la Maladière is a multi-purpose stadium in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Neuchâtel Xamax. The stadium holds 12,000. It replaced the old Stade de la Maladière. History The stadium opened in February 2007, with Neuchatel Xamax defeating La Chaux-de-Fonds by a scoreline of 3–2 in front of a sell-out crowd of 12,000 people. The stadium complex was officially inaugurated in June 2007. The complex includes a shopping mall underneath the stadium, a fire house, and six gymnasiums. A small piece of the roof fell off in July 2007. The stadium has used a synthetic turf since its opening. The turf was replaced in 2015. Luis Pedro Cavanda (born 2 January 1991) is a Belgian professional footballer who last played as a right-back for Swiss club Neuchâtel Xamax. Brahima Ouattara (born 23 November 2002) is an Ivorian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder. Club career Ouattara began his career with RC Abidjan in Ivory Coast.
