Basketball Netherlands ( nl, Basketbal Nederland) is the governing body of basketball in the Netherlands. It was founded in 1947, and are headquartered in Nieuwegein. Basketball Nederland operates the Netherlands men's national team and Netherlands women's national team. They organise national competitions in the Netherlands, for both the men's and women's senior teams, as well as the youth national basketball teams. Dimeo Van Der Horst
Dimeo van der Horst (born 23 June 1991) is a Dutch 3x3 basketball player who plays for the Netherlands men's national 3x3 team. Standing at 1.95 m (6 ft 5 in), Van der Horst primarily plays as point guard. Born in Amsterdam, he played 11 seasons of professional basketball in the Dutch Basketball League for four different clubs. Professional career Amsterdam Van der Horst started his professional career in 2007 with Amsterdam Basketball, making his debut in a friendly game during the Haarlem Basketball Week, at age 16. He was given a place on the roster of the senior team in 2008–09 by coach Arik Shivek. On 9 October 2008, Van der Horst made his debut in the Eredivisie, scoring 3 points against the West-Brabant Giants. He won the 2008 and 2009 national championship with Amsterdam. The 2019 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, hosted by the Netherlands, was an international 3x3 basketball event that featured separate competitions for men's and women's national teams. The tournament ran between 18 and 23 June 2019 in Amsterdam, North Holland. Background It was announced in February 2017 that the Netherlands would host the event and that the tournament would be held at Museumplein, one of Amsterdam's public squares. Tickets for the event went on sale in March 2019. Medalists Participating teams The FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking on 13 December 2018 was used as basis to determine the participating FIBA member associations. The hosts, the Netherlands, qualified automatically for both the men's and women's events, while the defending champions, Serbia for men's and Italy for women's, also qualified automatically. The 2016 FIBA 3x3 World Championships, hosted by China, was an international 3x3 basketball event that featured separate competitions for men's and women's national teams. The tournament was run between 11 and 15 October 2016, in Guangzhou outside the Tianhe Sport Complex. It was co-organized by the FIBA. Host selection On May 10, 2015, FIBA announced the Guangzhou as host city of the 2016 tournament. Medalists Participating teams The FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking was used as basis to determine the participating FIBA member associations. China as hosts automatically qualifies in both men's and women's tournament while the Qatar and the United States winners of the 2014 edition in the men's and women's tournaments respectively. The 2014 FIBA 3x3 World Championships, hosted by Russia, was an international 3x3 basketball event that feature separate competitions for men's and women's national teams. The tournament was run from 5 June to 8 June 2014 in Moscow. It is co-organized by the FIBA. Qatar won their first title after defeating the defending champions Serbia 18–13 in the men's final. In the women's it was the defending champions USA that defeated Russia 15-8.
