Netball Europe (previously known as Federation of European Netball Associations) is the regional body within the International Federation of Netball Associations that governs netball across Europe. The European region has eleven full members and three associate members. Netball Europe runs the annual European Netball Championships for open, challenge and under-age sections. Republic Of Ireland National Netball Team
The Republic of Ireland national netball team is the national netball team of the Republic of Ireland. Their best performance at international tournament was a 10th place finish in the 1991 World Netball Championships. As of the 25th August 2022, the Republic of Ireland are 24th in the INF World Rankings. The current team members are below. Ireland took on Malta, Israel, Switzerland and hosts Gibraltar on their way to the crown in what was their first time playing world ranking games. Netball In Sweden
Netball was brought to Sweden by the English early in the game's history. In the period between 1902 and 1925, copies of the netball rule book published by the Ling Association of England were sold in Sweden. During and preceding the 1970s, most of the world (outside of New Zealand and Australia) played a one handed variety of netball. This allowed a more fluid type of game, with longer passes designed to open up the court. While Australian Heather Main was studying in Stockholm, she started a team that eventually included three teams and became the Swedish Netball League. Sweden had a team participate at the 2010 European Festival in Malta. In 2010, Sweden participated in the European Netball Tournament for the first time. Netball Switzerland was founded in 2009 by a group of volunteers to promote the game of Netball within Switzerland. Netball Switzerland changed its name to Swiss Netball and joined the INF as a full member (International Netball Federation)in 2011. Scotland National Netball Team
The Scotland national netball team represents Scotland in international netball tournaments such as the Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the European Netball Championship and the Netball Singapore Nations Cup. Scotland also effectively competes in the Netball Superleague. Between 2008 and 2011 they played as Glasgow Wildcats. Northern Ireland National Netball Team
The Northern Ireland national netball team represent Northern Ireland in international netball tournaments such as the Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the European Netball Championship and the Nations Cup. The team was founded in 1955. Northern Ireland won the Nations Cup in both 2009 and 2015 and were silver medallists at the 2012 and 2017 European Netball Championships. Malta National Netball Team
The Malta national netball team participates in International tournaments, representing the country of Malta. They are part of Netball Europe and are a full member of the International Netball Federation (INF). They are also associate members of FENA (Federation of European Netball Associations). Malta achieved an International Ranking position in 2012. As of 7 March 2018, they are currently ranked 37th in the INF World Rankings.
