Nestinari Nunataks
Nestinari Nunataks (Nestinarski Nunatatsi \ne-sti-'nar-ski 'nu-na-ta-tsi\) are a pair of rocky peaks of elevation 470 m and 520 m in middle Huron Glacier, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Situated in the north foothills of Tangra Mountains, 210 m away from each other. They are named after the Greco-Bulgarian folkloric ritual of ‘ Nestinari’ involving barefoot dancing on live embers. Kuzman Knoll
Kuzman Knoll (Kuzmanova Mogila \'kuz-ma-no-va mo-'gi-la\) is a solitary ice-covered knoll rising to 620 m in eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The knoll forms a conspicuous landmark in Wörner Gap area, overlooking Huron Glacier and upper Perunika Glacier. It was named after Kuzman Tuhchiev, participant in the 1993/94 Bulgarian Antarctic campaign and base commander at St. Kliment Ohridski during the 1994-96 seasons. The feature is named ''‘Tukhchiev Knoll’'' by the U.S. and British Antarctic naming committees; "Kuzman Knoll" is the official Bulgarian name, which is established among the Spanish and Bulgarian scientists working in the area. Ravda Peak
Ravda Peak ( bg, връх Равда, vrah Ravda, ) is a rocky peak of elevation in Levski Ridge, Tangra Mountains, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Situated on the side ridge projecting northwards from Levski Peak into Huron Glacier. The peak was first ascended by the Bulgarian Lyubomir Ivanov from Camp Academia on 21 December 2004. The peak is named after the Black Sea settlement of Ravda, Bulgaria. Levski Peak (Antarctica)
Levski Peak ( bg, връх Левски, vrah Levski, ) is a mountain in Antarctica, rising to approximately in the western extremity of Levski Ridge, Tangra Mountains on Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It surmounts Huron Glacier to the north and Macy Glacier to the south. The peak was named after Vasil Levski (1837–1873), a national hero of the Bulgarian liberation movement. Plana Peak
Plana Peak ( bg, връх Плана, vrah Plana, ) is a mostly ice-covered peak on the Levski Ridge, Tangra Mountains, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Surmounting Huron Glacier to the north and its tributaries to the east and west. First ascent by D. Boyanov, N. Petkov and A. Shopov on 8 January 2015. Lozen Nunatak
Lozen Nunatak ( bg, Лозенски нунатак, Lozenski nunatak, ) is a 440m hill in upper Huron Glacier, Livingston Island. It is part of a minor ridge in the north foothills of Tangra Mountains including also Erma Knoll and Aheloy Nunatak, and linked to Zograf Peak by Lozen Saddle. The hill was first visited on 17 December 2004 by the Bulgarian Lyubomir Ivanov from Camp Academia. It is named after the Lozen Monastery of St. Spas (Holy Saviour) in western Bulgaria. Nestinari
The Anastenaria ( el, Αναστενάρια, bg, Нестинарство, translit=Nestinarstvo), is a traditional barefoot fire-walking ritual with ecstatic dance performed in some villages in Northern Greece and Southern Bulgaria. The communities which celebrate this ritual are descended from refugees who entered Greece from Eastern Thrace following the Balkan Wars of 1911–12 and the Population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1923. Ritual cycle The Bulgarian and Greek villages perform a unique annual ritual cycle, which begins on May 21 and ends on May 23 every year. The central figures of the tradition are Saint Constantine and Saint Helen, but all the significant days in this cycle coincide with important days in the Greek Orthodox calendar and are related to various Christian saints.
