Nesset Parsonage
The Nesset Parsonage ( no, Nesset prestegård) lies southwest of Eidsvåg on the south side of Langfjorden in the municipality of Nesset, Norway. The parsonage is especially known for being the boyhood home of the writer Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. His father, Peder Bjørnson, served as the parish priest here from 1837 to 1853. Bjørnstjerne lived in Nesset until 1844, when he moved to Molde and started high school. The rural community and nature at the parsonage in Romsdal had a strong impact on Bjørnson's poetry. The parsonage has been developed in a partnership between the Romsdal Museum as a museum-based consultant and the Norwegian Church Endowment (Ovf), which owns the property. Langfjorden (Møre Og Romsdal)
The Langfjorden is a fjord in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The long fjord is an arm of the large Romsdalsfjord which begins between the most easterly point on the island of Sekken in Molde Municipality and ''Okseneset'' in Rauma Municipality. The fjord then continues to the east to the village of Eidsvåg in Molde Municipality. The fjord's two arms, Eresfjorden at east end and Rødvenfjorden at the west end are oriented to the south. The fjord is crossed by the Åfarnes–Sølsnes Ferry, as part of County Road 64. The Langfjord Tunnel is a proposed undersea tunnel that would replace the ferry. The village of Mittet in Rauma lies on the south shore of the fjord. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson
Bjørnstjerne Martinius Bjørnson ( , ; 8 December 1832 – 26 April 1910) was a Norwegian writer who received the 1903 Nobel Prize in Literature "as a tribute to his noble, magnificent and versatile poetry, which has always been distinguished by both the freshness of its inspiration and the rare purity of its spirit". The first Norwegian Nobel laureate, he was a prolific polemicist and extremely influential in Norwegian public life and Scandinavian cultural debate. Bjørnson is considered to be one of the four great Norwegian writers, alongside Ibsen, Lie, and Kielland. He is also celebrated for his lyrics to the Norwegian national anthem, "Ja, vi elsker dette landet". Peder Bjørnson
Peder Elias Bjørnson (1798–1871) was a Norwegian priest, best known for being the father of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. Bjørnson was born in at the Skei farm in Søgne. He was of peasant stock and he married Inger Elise Nordraak (1808–1897) from Kragerø. He served as a priest in Kvikne, a secluded village in the Østerdalen district, some sixty miles south of Trondheim, from 1831 to 1838, and it is here that his son was born on 8 December 1832 and given the unusual name ''Bjørnstjern''. Kvikne had a violent reputation, but Bjørnson succeeded in introducing compulsory education and subduing the local opposition to religious authority. Romsdal is a traditional district in the Norwegian county Møre og Romsdal, located between Nordmøre and Sunnmøre. Romsdal Museum
The Romsdal Museum ( no, Romsdalsmuseet) is a museum in the Romsdal district of Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The museum is based in Molde Municipality, but it has sites all over the region. History The museum was founded by Peter Tønder Solemdal (1876-1963) in 1912, and is one of the largest and most extensive folk museums in Norway. In addition, the museum has a library and several archives for prints, text, and photographs. In 1928, the museum was opened to the public. In the middle of the field is the old "Isdammen", previously used for ice production. The area also contains a lake, which is very popular with local birds, and a stage that is used during Moldejazz, the Molde International Jazz Festival.
