Evelyn Nesbit
Evelyn Nesbit (born Florence Evelyn Nesbit; December 25, 1884 or 1885 – January 17, 1967) was an American artists' model, chorus girl, and actress. She is best known for her years as a young woman in New York City, particularly her involvement in a deadly and abusive triangle between railroad scion Harry Kendall Thaw and architect Stanford White, which resulted in White's murder by Thaw in 1906. In her day, Nesbit was a famous fashion model, being frequently photographed for mass circulation newspapers, magazine advertisements, souvenir items, and calendars. When in her early teens, she had begun working as an artist's model in Philadelphia. Nesbit continued after her family moved to New York, posing for legitimate artists including James Carroll Beckwith, Frederick S. Jamar Nesbit
Jamar Kendric Nesbit (born December 17, 1976) is a former American football guard. He was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 1999. He played college football at the University of South Carolina. Nesbit has also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints. He was suspended for four games during the 2008–2009 season for using a performance-enhancing drug. He had been using StarCaps, which contained the illegal loop diuretic bumetanide, which is used to mask steroids or performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). While serving his suspension, he lost his starting job to Carl Nicks. William Nesbit (thief)
William Raymond Nesbit (June 1, 1899 – August 6, 1983) was an American jewel thief active in the 1930s. He was born in Marshalltown, Iowa. Background On December 31, 1936, he killed fellow thief Harold Baker in a gunpowder explosion in Minnehaha County, near Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was arrested February 26, 1937, and was convicted and sentenced on May 28, 1937, to life imprisonment, which on February 18, 1946, was commuted to 20 years incarceration. Imprisoned in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, he eventually became a "trusty" and the personal chauffeur of the warden. Disappearance and capture On September 4, 1946, he failed to return from running errands, and on December 26, 1946, he was charged ''trial in absentia, in absentia'' with unlawful flight to avoid confinement. Nesbit Willoughby
Sir Nesbit Josiah Willoughby (29 August 17779 May 1849) was an officer in the British Royal Navy who was knighted in 1827, and made rear-admiral in 1847. He is related to Sir Hugh Willoughby (died 1554), who also figures in British naval history. Life Willoughby entered the British navy in 1790 and was present at the battle of Copenhagen. In 1801, however, he was dismissed from the service by the sentence of a court-martial for his insolent conduct towards a superior officer, a previous offence of this kind having been punished less severely. Nesbit Township is a township in Polk County, Minnesota, United States. It is part of the Grand Forks- ND- MN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 130 at the 2000 census. Nesbit Township was named for brothers James Nesbit and Robert Nesbit, pioneer settlers. Nesbit is an unincorporated community in DeSoto County, Mississippi, United States. History A post office operated under the name Nesbits Station from 1869 to 1881 and began operating under the name Nesbit in 1881. In the early 1900s, an academy, two churches, and a sawmill were located in Nesbit. Nesbit is located on the former Illinois Central Railroad. Nesbit, Northumberland
Nesbit is a hamlet and former civil parish, now in the parish of Doddington, Northumberland, England. It was once the site of a medieval village. In maps published during the 17th to 19th centuries, the name of the settlement was variously spelled Nesbet, Nesbitt or Nesbit. In 1951 the parish had a population of 143. Nesbit is near the confluence of the Glen and Till rivers and the hypothesized location of one of King Arthur's battles against invading Anglo-Saxons. Latin documentation dating to 1242 lists "Dodington cum Nesebit membro suo" (Doddington with its member Nesbit) as among the holdings of Baron William de Vesci. In 1346, Edward III granted land at Nesbit to Thomas Grey (or Gray) of Heaton after the rebellion of the previous holder, John de Trollope.
