Nencho Staykov
Nencho Staykov ( bg, Ненчо Стайков), born 19 December 1955) is a Bulgarian former cyclist. He competed in the individual road race and team time trial events at the 1980 Summer Olympics. He is a 1984 Tour of Turkey general classification winner and three-time Tour of Bulgaria general classification winner (1978, 1980 and 1984). Tour Of Bulgaria
The Tour of Bulgaria is an annual international professional bicycle race held in Bulgaria that was first staged on 21 August 1924. It is part of UCI Europe Tour and is category 2.2. The race covers about 1,500 kilometres and lasts two weeks. As of 2017, 66 editions were held. The longest length of the race was in 1949 – 1905 km. The course changes every year, but the race has always started in Sofia. In the race, cyclists from more than 40 countries have been competing. During the Cold War, the Tour of Bulgaria was one of the most prestigious cycling races in Europe, drawing skilled cyclists from the countries that traditionally produce strong racers, such as Italy, France and Netherlands. The men's individual road race was an event at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. 115 cyclists from 32 nations took part. The maximum number of cyclists per nation was four. The event was won by Sergei Sukhoruchenkov of the Soviet Union, the nation's second victory (after 1960; tying France for second-most behind Italy) in the men's individual road race. His teammate Yuri Barinov took bronze. Czesław Lang's silver put Poland on the podium in the event for the second straight Games. Background This was the 11th appearance of the event, previously held in 1896 and then at every Summer Olympics since 1936.
