Nenad Rašić
Nenad Rašić (, ; born 27 January 1973) is a Kosovo Serb politician serving as the minister for communities and returns of Kosovo since 1 December 2022. Previously he served as the minister of labor and social welfare of Kosovo from 2008 to 2014 and as a member of the Assembly of Kosovo from 2014 to 2017. Known for his moderate views, Rašić was one of the founders of the Independent Liberal Party (SLS) and its high-ranking member until his removal from the party in 2013 and is currently the president of the Progressive Democratic Party (PDS). Early life and career Rašić was born on 27 January 1973 in Dobrotin, a village near Lipljan, in the SAP Kosovo, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia. Lipljan
Lipjan ( sq-definite, Lipjani) or Lipljan ( sr-Cyrl, Липљан) is a town and municipality located in the Pristina District of Kosovo. According to the 2011 census, the town of Lipjan has 6,870 inhabitants, while the municipality has 57,605 inhabitants. Name The town's name derives from ''Ulpiana'', the Dardanian and Roman era settlement that preceded Lipjan, possibly due to either a ''Ul-'' to ''Li-'' shift seen elsewhere in Roman toponyms. Selami Pulaha states that the shift from ''Ulpiana'' to ''Lipjan'' is in accordance with early Albanian phonetic rules, and must therefore have been inhabited by Albanians to reach its current form. It has also been connected with the Albanian term " ujk" ("wolf") (Old and Dialectal Albanian: "ulk") and the name of the city of Ulqin probably delivers from the same variation. NATO Bombing Of Yugoslavia
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) carried out an aerial bombing campaign against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia during the Kosovo War. The air strikes lasted from 24 March 1999 to 10 June 1999. The bombings continued until an agreement was reached that led to the withdrawal of Yugoslav armed forces from Kosovo, and the establishment of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo, a UN peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. Civic Initiative for Freedom, Justice and Survival ( sr, Грађанска иницијатива “За слободу, правду и останак”, Građanska inicijativa “Za slobodu, pravdu i ostanak”, GI SPO) is a Serb minority political organization in Kosovo. It has one seat in the Assembly of Kosovo. GI SPO is led by Milan Dabić and its only MP is Cvetko Veljković, former head of the Office for Communities in the government of Albin Kurti. Laplje Selo
Laplje Selo ( sr-Cyrl, Лапље Село, sq, Llapllaselle) is a village in the Gračanica municipality of Kosovo. Laplje Selo was part of the Pristina municipality before the Gračanica municipality was created. It is a Serb enclave situated south of Čaglavica, and has a supermajority of ethnic Serbs. During the Kosovo War, Serbs were displaced, after more than a decade, sixteen families returned to their village, on February 6, 2010. That number has since increased to just over 20 families. Cvetko Veljković
Cvetko Veljković (, ) is a Kosovo Serb politician serving as a member of the Assembly of Kosovo since 17 November 2022. He is a member of the Civic Initiative for Freedom, Justice and Survival (GI SPO). Biography Veljković was born in Štrpce, SAP Kosovo, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia. He holds a degree in economy. In May 2020, Veljković was appointed head of the Office for Communities by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, replacing Nenad Rašić who resigned earlier. Following his appointment, it was revealed that some years earlier Veljković had posted songs dedicated to Ratko Mladić on his Facebook account, raising controversy. Rada Trajković (; ; born 8 March 1953) is a Kosovo Serb politician, president of the European Movement of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija who served as the Minister of Family Services in the Government of Serbia and the second cabinet of Mirko Marjanović from 24 March 1998 to 24 October 2000. Gračanica, Kosovo
Gračanica ( sr-cyr, Грачаница) or Graçanicë ( sq-definite, Graçanica), is a town and municipality located in Pristina District in central Kosovo. As of 2011, it has an estimated population of 10,675 inhabitants, though most Serbs boycotted the Kosovo government's attempt at conducting a census. It is centered around the Gračanica Monastery, ten kilometers east of Pristina. Brussels Agreement (2013)
The Brussels Agreement ( sr, Бриселски споразум / ''Briselski sporazum'', al, Marrëveshja e Brukselit), formally the First Agreement of Principles Governing the Normalisation of Relations, is an agreement to normalize relations between the governments of Serbia and Kosovo. The agreement, negotiated and concluded in Brussels under the auspices of the European Union, was signed on 19 April 2013. Negotiations were led by Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dačić and Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, mediated by EU High Representative Catherine Ashton. The government of Serbia does not recognize Kosovo as a sovereign state, but began normalising relations with the government of Kosovo as a result of the agreement. The Serb List ( sr, / ; al, Lista Serbe) is a Serb minority political party in Kosovo. It was the dominant Serb party in Kosovo politics, claiming all ten of Assembly seats reserved for the community, from 2014 until all its members resigned and withdrew in 2022. 2014 Kosovan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Kosovo on 8 June 2014, after incumbent Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi announced his intention to hold elections.
