NEMO Deficiency Syndrome
Nuclear factor-kappa B Essential Modulator (NEMO) deficiency syndrome is a rare type of primary immunodeficiency disease that has a highly variable set of symptoms and prognoses. It mainly affects the skin and immune system but has the potential to affect all parts of the body, including the lungs, urinary tract and gastrointestinal tract. It is a monogenetic disease caused by mutation in the IKBKG gene (IKKγ, also known as the NF-κB essential modulator, or NEMO). NEMO is the modulator protein in the IKK inhibitor complex that, when activated, phosphorylates the inhibitor of the NF-κB transcription factors allowing for the translocation of transcription factors into the nucleus. The link between IKBKG mutations and NEMO deficiency was identified in 1999. IKBKG is located on the X chromosome and is X-linked therefore this disease predominantly affects males, However females may be genetic carriers of certain types of mutations. Caisson Nemo
Île du Levant (), sometimes referred to as Le Levant, is a French island in the Mediterranean off the coast of the Riviera, near Toulon. It is one of the four that constitute the Îles d'Hyères. Part of the island is occupied by the naturist resort of Heliopolis and the rest is under military control. History Ancient history In the early Bronze Age the deposits at Petit Avis attest to the intermittent passage of man. Then in the Iron Age, in Liserot Cove, in the 7th century BC the occupation remains transient. It becomes permanent there only from the sixth to the fifth century BC. Then, after a long period of abandonment, it was inhabited again in the 1st century BC, Greek and Ligurian dishes were found on the island. The island was part of the Greek colony of Massalia (modern Marseille). Modern history Monks lived on the island beginning in the 15th century; the ruins of their monastery still exist on the island. From 1861 until 1878, the island was a penitentiary for yo ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

DSV-5 Nemo
DSV-5, ex-NEMO (Naval Experimental Manned Observatory), was a submersible used by the United States Navy between 1970 and 1986 to oversee and observe undersea construction work. NEMO had a spherical transparent acrylic hull, which gave occupants panoramic vision. NEMO was the first submersible with a hull made entirely out of transparent acrylic (Plexiglass), and much of her career was spent testing this hull design. NEMO was found to be an effective observation platform, despite not being able to hover in place, and acrylic-hulled submersibles have continued to be built and operated in the United States. NEMO is considered part of the ''Alvin'' class of Deep Submergence Vehicles despite bearing little resemblance to the other subs of the class. NEMO was transferred to "other government agencies" (likely the CIA) in 1986 and retired from government service in 2011. It was then given to the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum, where it remains on display. Design NEMO consisted of a spherical ... Sisu Nemo
Sisu Nemo is a hydraulic radial piston motor type developed and initially produced by Suomen Autoteollisuus (SAT). The system was patented in 1961. The motor produces a high torque at low speed and it has been primarily used to power both civil and military lorry trailers. A number of other applications have been designated for various industrial applications. Development The idea of the motor came from DI Ilmari Louhio who worked in SAT as design engineer. The operating principle was so simple, that when Louhio presented his invention to the technical department and company management, he was not taken seriously; the answer was ''"if that would work, someone would have invented it for long ago"''. However, Louhio didn't give up and in 1959 a team was set up to develop the concept. The members were Louhio, Pentti Tarvainen, Antti Saarialho and Lasse Airola; in addition, dozens of people from different departments took part in the development work. A number of prototypes were bu ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Citroën Nemo
The Fiat Fiorino is a small commercial vehicle produced by the Italian car manufacturer Fiat since 1977. Its first two generations have been the panel van derivatives of other small models, such as the Fiat 127 and Fiat Uno, while the current third generation was developed jointly with PSA Peugeot Citroën (both of which merged into Stellantis), and is based on the Fiat Small platform. The current generation, the Sevel LAV, is also built with a passenger body style, as the Fiat Qubo, and is marketed along with its rebadged versions, the Citroën Nemo and the Peugeot Bipper. It is positioned below the Fiat Doblò, the Citroën Berlingo, and the Peugeot Partner, in each manufacturer's model line up. The name comes from the ''fiorino d'oro'', an old Italian coin normally translated into English as the Florin. First generation (1977–1988) Originally called Fiat 127 Fiorino, the first generation (Codeproject Type 147) was based on the Series 2 Fiat 127 with the back being a van ... Neutrino Ettore Majorana Observatory
The Neutrino Ettore Majorana Observatory (NEMO experiment) is an international collaboration of scientists searching for neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ). The collaboration has been active since 1989. Observation of 0νββ would indicate neutrinos are Majorana particles and could be used to measure the neutrino mass. It is located in the Modane Underground Laboratory (LSM) in the Fréjus Road Tunnel. The experiment has (as of 2018) had 3 detectors, NEMO-1, NEMO-2, NEMO-3 (and a demonstrator module of SuperNEMO-detector) and is planning (as of 2018) to construct a new detector SuperNEMO. The NEMO-1 and NEMO-2 prototype detectors were used until 1997. Latest experiment NEMO-3 was under design and construction from 1994 onwards, took data from January 2003 to January 2011 and the final data analysis was published in 2018.http://www.rcnp.osaka-u.ac.jp/dbd18/Data/Prog/S0303_Patrick.pdf The NEMO-2 and NEMO-3 detectors produced measurements for double neutrino decays and lim ...
