Nello Carrara
Nello Carrara (19 February 1900 – 5 June 1993) was an Italian physicist and founder of the Electromagnetic Wave Research Institute. He researched X-rays and was a pioneer of radar, but is best known for coining the term "microwave". Biography Nello Carrara was born in Florence on 19 February 1900. He graduated from high school in 1917, and after serving in the Army during World War I, entered the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa in 1918, where he studied physics. His fellow students included Enrico Fermi and Franco Rasetti. He wrote his doctoral thesis on X-ray diffraction in 1921. After graduation, he worked for the University of Pisa. At the age of 24, he became a professor at the Italian Naval Academy, where he taught hundreds of Italian Marina Militare officers and academic researchers until 1954. Nello Celio (12 February 1914 – 29 December 1995) was a Swiss politician from the Canton of Ticino. He was a member of the Free Democratic Party. He was a member of the Federal Council from 1966 to 1973 and served as the President of the Swiss Confederation in 1972. Biography Celio was born in Quinto, Ticino, Switzerland in 1914. He studied law at the University of Basel and the University of Bern. In 1944, he was appointed as a public prosecutor in the Sopraceneri area of Ticino. He became active in politics as the president of the Ticino FDP and entered elective office in 1946 as a member of the Council of State of Ticino. He served in that body until 1959. In 1960, he became the party president of the FDP. He stood for the 1963 Swiss federal election for the National Council and was elected. Nello Donald Falaschi (March 19, 1913 – July 29, 1986) was an American football player in the National Football League for the New York Giants. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1971. Early life Falaschi was born in Dos Palos, California and played high school football at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, California. Nello Lauredi (5 October 1924 in Mulazzo, Italy – 8 April 2001 in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, France) was a professional French road bicycle racer. He was of Italian origin but in 1948 he changed nationality to France. He was a professional cyclist from 1949 until 1959 and had 17 wins. Cirillo Pagani (11 October 1911 – 19 October 2003), nicknamed "Nello", was an Italian Grand Prix motorcycle road racer and Formula One driver. He was born in Milan, Lombardy, and died in Bresso. He was known for his long career, spanning from 1928 to 1955, and for becoming the first 125cc World Champion in the inaugural 1949 campaign. He almost became a double Champion in that first year of the World Championship series. In the 500cc class he was officially runner-up. The series was run over six rounds with a rider's best three scores counting towards the championship. Englishman Les Graham on an AJS was Pagani's main rival. Sabatino Enrico 'Nello' Rosselli (Rome, 29 November 1900 – Bagnoles-de-l'Orne, 9 June 1937) was an Italian Socialist leader and historian. Biography Rosselli was born in Rome to a prominent Jewish family. His parents were Giuseppe Emanuele "Joe" Rosselli (1867 - 1911) and Amelia Pincherle (1870 - 1954), who was the paternal aunt to writer Alberto Moravia. Nello was the youngest of three sons, the others being Aldo Sabatino (1895 - 1916), died in World War I and Carlo Alberto (1899–1937). Nello Russo (born 11 May 1981) is a former Italian footballer who played as a forward. Football career In 2000, he left on loan to Arezzo along with Giuseppe Ticli, Giovanni Passiglia and Cristian Lizzori, from Internazionale.
