Nellie Gatehouse
Eleanor Wright Gatehouse ( Austin, 12 May 1886 – 30 August 1972) was an Australian amateur golfer. She won the Australian Women's Amateur in 1909, 1925 and 1928 and won the Victorian Women's Amateur Championship five times between 1907 and 1927. Golf career Gatehouse finished third in the 1907 Australian Women's Amateur at Royal Melbourne, and the following week won the Victorian Women's Amateur Championship at Victoria Golf Club. In 1908 she was runner-up to Euphie Bell in the Victorian championship. Gatehouse won both the Australian and Victorian championship in 1909. In the Australian event at Royal Melbourne she won by 11 strokes from Nancy Parbury and she also finished ahead of Parbury in the Victorian championship. In 1910 she led the qualifying in the Australian Women's Amateur at Royal Adelaide, but was beaten 5 and 4 by Nancy Parbury in the first match-play round. Parbury went on the win the championship. The Australian Women's Amateur is the national amateur golf championship of Australia. It was first played in 1894 and is organised by Golf Australia. Having traditionally been a match play event, it became a 72-hole stroke play event in 2021, having last been played as a stroke play event in 1927. Victorian Women's Amateur Championship
The Victorian Women's Amateur Championship is the state amateur golf championship of Victoria, Australia. It has been played annually since 1900, except for the war years. Format The event is a match play tournament. In 2021 and 2022 there were 16 qualifiers, the championship being played over two days with all matches over 18 holes. In 2020 the number of qualifiers was reduced to 8. Before 2020 there were 16 qualifiers with the event being played over three days with a 36-hole final. Players qualify through the Port Phillip Open Amateur, which is played immediately before the championship. Nancy Parbury
Nancy Lilian Parbury (16 December 1885 – 14 August 1959) was an Australian amateur golfer. She won the Australian Women's Amateur in 1910 and 1911 and won the New South Wales Women's Amateur Championship in 1910, 1911 and 1914. Golf career Parbury was runner-up in the Australian Women's Amateur in 1907, 1908 and 1909. She was 12 strokes behind Leonora Wray in both 1907 and 1908 and 11 strokes behind Nellie Gatehouse in 1909. She was also runner-up in the New South Wales Women's Amateur Championship in same three years. The Royal Adelaide Golf Club (often referred to as Seaton) is a private Australian golf club located in the Adelaide suburb of Seaton, northwest of the city centre. Mona MacLeod
Ada Mona MacLeod (7 June 1895 – 27 January 1953) was an Australian amateur golfer. She won the Australian Women's Amateur in 1921, 1926, 1927 and 1932 and won the Victorian Women's Amateur Championship five times between 1925 and 1933. Golf career MacLeod was runner-up in the 1919 Victorian Women's Amateur Championship behind Caroline Austin (golfer), Caroline Austin. She was tied with Violet Yuille but took the second prize after beating Yuille in an 18-hole playoff the following day. In September 1921 she won the Australian Women's Amateur for the first time. Played at Royal Melbourne she won by 14 strokes. The following month she was runner-up in the Victorian championship behind Gladys Hay and she was second again in 1922 behind Cecily Lascelles.
