Eugene Neil McCarthy (26th July 1932 – 5th February 1985) was an English actor known for his dramatic physical appearance caused by acromegaly. He was also a talented linguist and pianist. Early life Born in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, the son of Sleaford dentist Eugene Charles McCarthy (1899–1954) and Beatrice Annie (''née'' Corney, 1901–1978), McCarthy was educated at Stamford School (where his contemporaries included cricketer M. J. K. Neil McCarthy (basketball)
Neil McCarthy (May 18, 1939 – September 18, 2021) was an American college basketball coach. He was head coach of the Weber State Wildcats team from 1974 to 1985 and at the New Mexico State Aggies from 1985 to 1997. At Weber State, McCarthy led the Wildcats to four NCAA tournaments, including the school's first NCAA Tournament win since reaching the Sweet 16 in 1972. He remained Weber State's winningest coach until Randy Rahe broke his wins record in 2016. During most of McCarthy's tenure at New Mexico State, the Aggies were the second-best team in what became the Big West Conference, behind UNLV. After UNLV hit the skids, McCarthy took advantage and led the Aggies to four straight Big West tournament titles and four straight NCAA Tournaments from 1990 to 1994. His best team was the 1991–92 unit, which advanced all the way to the Sweet 16—the Aggies' deepest run in the tournament since the 1970 Final Four unit. Neil McCarthy (rugby Union)
Neil McCarthy (born 29 November 1974) is an English former Rugby union player. McCarthy was born in Slough. He was in the team for the 1999 Rugby World Cup in Wales and is one of only a handful of players to have an England cap at every representative level (U16; U18; U21; Saxons & Senior). He played as a hooker but could also cover prop. He was involved with the England team from 1999 to 2000, including the Rugby World Cup 1999. McCarthy started his early rugby career at Bath academy before moving to Gloucester and then to Bristol where his career was effectively ended in 2002 by a serious knee injury. McCarthy spent two years attempting to come back from the injury which included a final spell with Orrell Rugby, eventually retiring in 2004 after further complications from the original injury.
