Dan Needles
Dan Needles is best known as the playwright behind the popular Wingfield Series, which has played across Canada for many years. It was performed at the Stratford Festival of Canada, Mirvish Productions Toronto and was aired, in part, on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the Bravo Channel. Biography Dan was born in Toronto July 27th 1951 in Toronto Ontario, to Dorothy-Jane Needles (broadcaster and writer) and George William Needles (Stratford Festival stage actor and Veteran). Raised partly in the city and the country. His mother moved the family out of the city each spring to a hobby farm near Rosemont, Ontario where he and his siblings tended to a herd of Jersey cows and worked on the neighbouring farms of the 7th Line. Ira Needles
Ira George Needles (1893–January 6, 1986) was the second chancellor of the University of Waterloo, holding the position from 1966 to 1975. Personal life Needles was born in Mount Vernon, Iowa, in 1893. He received his undergraduate degree at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and his graduate degree in business administration at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He had a daughter and two sons, Lauranna Jones, William and Myron (Bud), with his wife Marian. Needles died at his home in Waterloo on January 6, 1986. B. F. Jimmy Needles
James R. Needles (March 3, 1900 – July 22, 1969) was an American basketball coach best known for being the United States' first Olympic basketball coach in 1936. Born in Tacoma, Washington in 1900, Needles studied at the University of San Francisco, then known as St. Ignatius College. Needles played basketball for the then-Grey Fog, becoming a player-coach during his senior year in 1924. He was appointed the basketball team's full-time coach upon his graduation. Needles coached Saint Ignatius College to two championships, capturing the Far Western Conference championship in 1928 and the Pacific Association title in 1929. Needles also coached Saint Ignatius' football team during this period, leading them to a runner-up spot in the 1928 Far Western Regionals. Illness forced Needles to resign from Saint Ignatius College in 1932, but he began coaching Amateur Athletic Union basketball soon afterwards. John Needles
John Needles (1786–1878) was an active Quaker and noted Maryland abolitionist. He was also a master craftsman of fine furniture. Early life John Needles was born on October 4, 1786 to Edward and Mary (Lamb) Needles. They lived on a farm in the small community of High Banks that borders the Choptank River and is located about eight miles east of Easton, Talbot County, Maryland. After his father died in 1798, John Needles lived with Pearce Lamb, his maternal grandfather, at ''Lamb's Meadows'', a farm that is located near Kennedyville, Kent County, Maryland. William Needles
George William Needles (January 2, 1919 – January 12, 2016) was an American-born Canadian actor and teacher. Critic Harry Lane praised his performances for their "apparently effortless intellectual and moral authority, combined with ironic playfulness and rich vocal sensitivity."
