Nederlandse Veiligheidsdienst
Nederlandse Veiligheidsdienst was the largest Dutch private security firm between 1911 and 1999. Ernst van der Lee started the organisation under the name Gecombineerde Nachtveiligheidsdienst (GNVD). Merger The Nederlandse Veiligheidsdienst was sold in 1999 to the Falck Group. Falck already owned Group 4 and Securicor these two companies merged to become Group 4 Securicor. In 2004, the merger was only allowed by the Netherlands Competition Authority if parts of the company were sold to prevent a monopoly in the securities business. Falck Security & Services, was sold to Facilicom. This resulted in Nederlandse Veiligheidsdienst being renamed Trigion. Falck A/S is a Danish organization with activities in most areas of Europe and representation on five continents. It has four business areas: healthcare, assistance, safety services and emergency assistance. The firm has 27,000 employees in 30 countries. The company's current CEO is Jakob Riis. History The company was founded in 1906 by Sophus Falck after he witnessed and volunteered at a fire at the Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1884. The lack of organization made a big impression on him, and motivated the creation of Falck later on in 1906. His mission was to help others in emergency situations. Today, Falck operates in 30 countries and on six continents. By 1956 the firm was a nationwide operator with 100 rescue stations in Denmark, and the company expanded seven years later by acquiring the shares of the Zonen rescue service, their main Danish road assistance competitor. Group 4 (company)
Group 4 was a security business operating primarily in the United Kingdom and latterly worldwide. History The company was established by Jörgen Philip-Sörensen, as a division of Securitas AB in 1968. The name derives from the fact that it brought together four different British security businesses into a single entity which became known as ''Group 4 Total Security'' and which was demerged from Securitas AB in 1981. Following the decision by the British Government in 1993 to enter into a contract with Group 4 to provide security for prisons, the company was embarrassed after a series of security blunders, including escaped prisoners. The Netherlands Competition Authority (Dutch: Nederlandse Mededingingsautoriteit, NMa) was the competition regulator for the Netherlands. After a merger with the Consumentenautoriteit and Onafhankelijke Post en Telecommunicatie Autoriteit on 1 April 2013, it became the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (Dutch: Autoriteit Consument en Markt).
