Ned Chaillet
Edward William Chaillet, III ( ; born 29 November 1944) is a radio drama producer and director, writer and journalist. Chaillet, American by birth, was born in Boston, Massachusetts but is a "native of Washington" according to ''The New York Times''. He has lived in Britain since 1973. His newspaper career began at the ''Washington Evening Star'' in 1964, interrupted by service in the United States Army. He then lived in Europe, founded the Free State Theater company in Maryland, and studied at the University of Maryland, College Park and California Institute of the Arts. Chaillet moved to London in 1973 to work at ''The Times Literary Supplement'' for the editors Arthur Crook and John Gross 1974–76. He was deputy drama critic (to Irving Wardle) for ''The Times'' 1975–83. In 1983 he joined the BBC as Editor, Radio 3 Plays, before becoming a producer for BBC Radio Drama. Radio Drama
Radio drama (or audio drama, audio play, radio play, radio theatre, or audio theatre) is a dramatized, purely acoustic performance. With no visual component, radio drama depends on dialogue, music and sound effects to help the listener imagine the characters and story: "It is auditory in the physical dimension but equally powerful as a visual force in the psychological dimension." Radio drama includes plays specifically written for radio, docudrama, dramatized works of fiction, as well as plays originally written for the theatre, including musical theatre, and opera. The Prix Italia is an international Television, Radio-broadcasting and Web award. Thirty-Minute Theatre
''Thirty-Minute Theatre'' was a British anthology drama series of short plays shown on BBC Television between 1965 and 1973, which was used in part at least as a training ground for new writers, on account of its short running length, and which therefore attracted many writers who later became well known. It was produced initially by Harry Moore, later by Graeme MacDonald, George Spenton-Foster, Innes Lloyd and others. ''Thirty-Minute Theatre'' began on BBC2 in 1965 with an adaptation of the black comedy ''Parson's Pleasure'' (author, Roald Dahl). Dennis Potter contributed ''Emergency – Ward 9'' (1966), which he partially recycled in the much later ''The Singing Detective'' (1986). Jill Viola Gascoine (11 April 1937 – 28 April 2020) was an English actress and novelist. She portrayed Detective Inspector Maggie Forbes in the 1980s television series '' The Gentle Touch'' and its spin-off series '' C.A.T.S. Eyes''. ''Death of a Salesman'' is a 1949 stage play written by American playwright Arthur Miller. The play premiered on Broadway in February 1949, running for 742 performances. New International Version
The New International Version (NIV) is an English translation of the Bible first published in 1978 by Biblica (formerly the International Bible Society). The ''NIV'' was created as a modern translation, by Bible scholars using the earliest and highest quality source manuscripts available, into broadly understood modern English. A team of 15 biblical scholars, representing a variety of evangelical denominations, worked from the oldest copies of reliable texts, variously written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Each section was subjected to multiple translations and revisions, and those assessed in detail to produce the best option.
