Nebelspalter
The ''Nebelspalter'' is a Swiss satirical magazine, which also has a political orientation in its online platform. It was founded in 1875 by Jean Nötzli of Zurich as an "''illustrated humorous political weekly''." The magazine was modelled on British magazine ''Punch''. It continued being a satirical magazine until the takeover and relaunch of the magazine by Markus Somm, though has been a monthly since late 1996. Wilhelm Busch
Heinrich Christian Wilhelm Busch (14 April 1832 – 9 January 1908) was a German humorist, poet, illustrator, and painter. He published wildly innovative illustrated tales that remain influential to this day. Busch drew on the tropes of folk humour as well as a profound knowledge of German literature and art to satirize contemporary life, any kind of piety, Catholicism, Philistinism, religious morality, bigotry, and moral uplift. His mastery of drawing and verse became deeply influential for future generations of comic artists and vernacular poets. Among many notable influences, ''The Katzenjammer Kids'' was inspired by Busch's ''Max and Moritz''. Today, the Wilhelm Busch Prize and the Wilhelm Busch Museum help maintain his legacy. Heinrich Danioth (1896–1953) was a Swiss painter and poet. Early life Heinrich Danioth was born on 1 May 1896 in Altdorf, Switzerland. In 1912, he received some of his basic artistic training in the Basel studio of fellow artist Rudolf Löw, as well as taking evening courses at the local commercial school. Career His career began in 1916 when he started work in the Vaterhaus in Altdorf as a freelance artist in his personal studio. After some time in active service, he gave up a position as a church painter in Upper Valais in 1919 "for artistic reasons of conscience". Throughout 1920-21, he attended the master class of the German expressionist August Babberger at the Baden State Art School in Karlsruhe. Franz Hohler (born 1 March 1943) is a Swiss author and cabaret performer based in Zürich. Life Hohler is the author of one-man programs and satirical programs for television and radio. He has written theater pieces, children's books, stories and novels.
