Nazrul Islam Chowdhury is a retired Justice of the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. Career In 2001, Chowdhury was appointed an additional judge of the High Court Division. In January 2003, Chowdhury and Justice M A Aziz declared the detention of Tofail Ahmed, a politician of the Awami League, who was arrested in December 2002. On 3 July 2003, Chowdhury was appointed a permanent judge of the High Court Division. In May 2004, the Chief Justice nominated Chowdhury to the selection committee formed to pick the commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission. In September 2007, Chowdhury and Justice Ataur Rahman Khan rejected an appeal to squash the MiG-29 fighter planes corruption case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In August 2011, Chowdhury and Justice Anwarul Haque expressed embarrassment and unwillingness to hear the bail hearing in a case against 13 lawyers. The High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh ( bn, হাইকোর্ট ডিভিশন) popularly known as the 'High Court' is one of the two divisions of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, the other division being the Appellate Division. Anwarul Haque
Anwarul Haque ( – 13 July 2017) was a Bangladesh Supreme Court justice who served as the Chairman of International Crimes Tribunal-1. Education Haque completed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Dhaka Government Muslim High School and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Notre Dame College, Dhaka. He completed his bachelor's in law from the University of Dhaka. Career Haque started practicing law in 1980. On 1 December 1981, he joined the judicial service as an Assistant Judge and later became a District and Sessions Judge in 1997. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami ( bn, বাংলাদেশ জামায়াতে ইসলামী, Bānglādēsh Jāmāyatē Islāmī, Bangladesh Islamic Assembly), previously known as Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, or Jamaat for short, was the largest Islamist political party in Bangladesh. Mir Quasem Ali
Mir Quasem Ali (31 December 1952 – 3 September 2016) was a Bangladeshi businessman, philanthropist and politician. He was a former director of Islami Bank, and chairman of the Diganta Media Corporation, which owns Diganta TV. He founded the Ibn Sina Trust and was a key figure in the establishment of the NGO Rabita al-Alam al-Islami. He was considered to be the wealthiest member of the Bangladeshi political party Jamaat-e-Islami. He was sentenced to death on 2 November 2014 for crimes against humanity committed during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971 by International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh. The charges were denied by his relatives, stating they were politically motivated. Ataur Rahman Khan (judge)
Md. Ataur Rahman Khan is a judge of the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court. Early life Khan was born on 1 December 1957. Career Khan joined the district court as a lawyer on 5 March 1984. On 27 December 1989, Khan became a lawyer of the High Court Division and on 6 June 1999 he became a lawyer of the Appellate Division. Khan was appointed an additional judge of the High Court Division on 23 September 2004 and made a permanent judge of the division on 23 August 2006. Khan was one of 19 High Court Division judges who opposed a High Court verdict asking the government to reinstate 10 judges.
