Nazrul Academy
Nazrul Academy is an academic research institution devoted to the study of the national poet of Bangladesh, Kazi Nazrul Islam, and his works including Nazrul Geeti. The academy is located in Moghbazar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. History Nazrul Academy was established by the poet Talim Hossain on 24 May 1968 in Dhaka in the then East Pakistan. Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury, the future president of Bangladesh, was the first chairman of the academy. Non-governmental Organization
A non-governmental organization (NGO) or non-governmental organisation (see spelling differences) is an organization that generally is formed independent from government. Nilufar Yasmin
Nilufar Yasmin (13 February 1948 – 10 March 2003) was a Bangladeshi singer of Nazrul Sangeet, Rajanikanta Geeti, Dwijendra Geeti and Atul Prasdi genre. She was the fourth of five Yasmin sisters of Bangladesh music. Her siblings are Farida Yasmin, Fauzia Yasmin, Nazma Yasmin, and Sabina Yasmin. She was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2004 by the Government of Bangladesh. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her performance in the film ''Shuvoda'' (1986). Rafiq Azad
Rafiq Azad (born Rafiqul Islam Khan; February 14, 1941 – March 12, 2016) was a Bangladeshi poet, editor and writer. He is credited with 45 collections of poetry including ''Prakriti O Premer Kabita, Asambhaber Paye, Sahasra Sundar, Haturir Nichae Jiban, Khub Beshi Durea Noy, Khamakaro Bahaman Hey Udar Amiyo Batas'' and others. Dilshad Nahar Kona
Dilshad Nahar Kona (born 15 April 1980; known as Kona) is a Bangladeshi singer. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her song ''"Tui Ki Amar Hobi Re"'' in the film ''Bishwoshundori'' (2020). Early life Kona was a student of Moghbazar Girls High School and Lalmatia College, Dhaka. She studied Nazrul Geeti in Nazrul Academy. Syed Abdul Hadi (born 1 July 1940) is a Bangladeshi singer. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer five times for his playback performance in the films ''Golapi Ekhon Traine'' (1979), ''Sundori'' (1979), ''Koshai'' (1980), '' Goriber Bou'' (1990) and ''Khoma'' (1992). Mustafa Zaman Abbasi
Mustafa Zaman Abbasi (born 8 December 1936) is a Bangladeshi musicologist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1995 by the Government of Bangladesh. Abbasi is the youngest son of folk singer-composer Abbas Uddin Ahmed. As of 2016, he serves as a senior research scholar at the "Kazi Nazrul Islam and Abbasuddin Research and Study Centre" of Independent University, Bangladesh. Background Abbasi is the third son of Abbasuddin Ahmed. His eldest brother Mustafa Kamal was the Chief Justice of Bangladesh. His sister Ferdausi Rahman is a playback singer. Rawshan Ara Mustafiz
Rawshan Ara Mustafiz is a Bangladeshi singer of Nazrul Sangeet genre. She was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2006 by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life and career Mustafiz learned music from her mother Rashida Khatun Chowdhury and started to perform in children's programs on radio at the age of six. She wrote a book on music titled ''Shurer Bhubon'' for learners. Mustafiz got her breakthrough when her songs ''O Madhobi Thako Mor Ontorey'' and ''Brihoshpoti Amar Ekhon Tunggey'' aired on Bangladesh Television. Khalid Hossain
Khalid Hossain (4 December 1935 – 22 May 2019) was a Bangladeshi Nazrul Geeti singer. In recognition of his contribution in music, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the country's second highest civilian award Ekushey Padak in 2000. Early life Khalid Hossain was born on 4 December 1935 at Krishnanagar, Nadia in the then British India now West Bengal. Abdul Mannan Syed
Abdul Mannan Syed (3 August 19435 September 2010) was a Bangladeshi poet, and critic. He is known for his considerable research works on Kazi Nazrul Islam, Jibanananda Das, Farrukh Ahmad, Syed Waliullah, Manik Bandyopadhyay, Bishnu De, Samar Sen, Roquiah Sakhawat Hossain, Abdul Ghani Hazari, Muhammad Wajed Ali, Prabodh Chandra Sen. From 2002 to 2004, he had been the executive director of Nazrul Institute. Life Syed was born on 3 August 1943 at Basirhat, on the Ichamati River, in 24 Paraganas, in West Bengal of undivided India. Abdul Alim (folk Singer)
Abdul Alim (27 July 1931 – 5 September 1974) was a Bangladeshi folk singer. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 1975 for playback in ''Sujan Sakhi''. He was posthumously awarded the Ekushey Padak in 1977 and Independence Day Award in 1997 by the Government of Bangladesh. Career Alim migrated from Murshidabad to Dhaka after the partition of India in 1947, and joined the Dhaka Radio Station as a staff artiste. By the age of 14, he had recorded two songs. In Dhaka, he took lessons from Mumtaz Ali Khan and Mohammed Hossain Khosru. He got his breakthrough while performing songs at the Alia Madrasah in Calcutta. He was awarded five gold medals for his performances and contributions to music at the All Pakistan music conference in Lahore. Alim recorded over 300 Gramophone records.
