Nawaraj Parajuli
Nawaraj Parajuli ( ne, नवराज पराजुली) is a Nepalese poet. He is best known for popularizing the slam poetry genre in Nepal. In 2017, a collection of his poems titled ''Sagarmatha Ko Gahirai'' was published. His anthology of poetry ''Sagarmatha ko Gahirai'' was awarded the 2017 Padmashree Award by the Khemkala-Harikala Lamichhane Foundation. ''Sagarmatha ko Gahirahi'' was also nominated for the Madan Puraskar award. Biography He was born to father Hari Prasad Parajuli and mother Laxmi Devi Parajuli in 1987 in Jhapa, Nepal. He received an M.Ed. in English Education from Tribhuvan University. Concert tours Parajauli went on a six-city tour of Australia in 2017, accompanied by flutist Samyak Maharjan, guitarist Chet Pun and poet Shuvechchhya Pradhan. Tribhuvan University
Tribhuvan University (TU; ne, त्रिभुवन विश्वविद्यालय) is a public university located in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. Established in 1959, TU is the oldest university in Nepal. ''Sagarmatha Ko Gahirai'' () is a poetry collection by Nawaraj Parajuli. It was published in 2017 by FinePrint Publication. It was shortlisted for the prestigious Madan Puraskar. The book was launched in the premises of Nepal Academy by the poet and his mother, Laxmi Devi Parajuli. Background Nawaraj Parajuli is a young Nepali poet. He is also the winner of the All Nepal Slam Poetry 2014. This is the poet's debut book. The anthology consists of 36 poems. ''Padmashree Sahitya Puraskar'' () is an annual literary prize in Nepali literature, presented by ''Khemlal-Harikala Lamichhane Samaaj Kalyan Pratisthan''. The award is given to a book that has provided a great contribution in the field of Nepali literature. This award is given alongside Padmashree Sadhana Samman. The Madan Puraskar ( ne, मदन पुरस्कार) is a literary honor in Nepal which Madan Puraskar Guthi confers annually for an outstanding book in the Nepali language published within the calendar year. It is considered the most prestigious literature award in Nepal. It is awarded on the day of Ghatasthapana every year alongside Jagadamba Shree Puraskar.
