Naveen Kumar (athlete)
Naveen Kumar (born 20 January 1988) is an Indian athlete. He belongs to Haryana. He won the bronze medal at the Asian Games 2016 in 3000M Steeplechase. Early life Naveen Kumar born in Chhapar village of Jhajjar district, Haryana. He completed his studies in the village and graduation from All India Jat Heroes Memorial College, Rohtak, Haryana. Career He started at young age of 12 years. His inspiration is Surendra Singh and Jaiveer Singh. He started his career at Haryana State Championship and won Gold in 4000M. He also won gold medals in 1500M & 5000M in the Haryana Olympic Games organized by Haryana State Olympic Association. Naveen Kumar joined Indian Army in 2009 and continued his practice during the training session and thereafter he participated in Indian Army Athletics Championship in 3000M Steeplechase and won gold medal. Chhapar (Jhajjar)
Chhapar is a small village in Jhajjar district in the state of Haryana, India. It is from Jhajjar, which is both the District & Sub-District headquarters. Surendra Singh (athlete)
Surendra Kumar Singh (born 1 October 1978) is an Indian long-distance runner who represented India at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in the 10,000 metres. He placed 26th in the event. He holds the Indian records for the 3000 metres and 10,000 m with times of 7:50.31 minutes and 28:02.89 minutes, respectively. He competed for his country in the 5000 m and 10,000 m at the 2006 Asian Games and placed sixth in both distances. At the 2007 Asian Indoor Games he was the silver medallist behind Qatar's Charles Bett Koech over 3000 metres. He also represented India at the 2007 Asian Championships in Jordan, participating in the 5000 metres and 10,000 m events finishing fifth in both. At the 2008 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships he was again runner-up to a Kenyan-born Qatari in the 3000 m (Sultan Khamis Zaman on this occasion). 2013 Asian Athletics Championships
The 2013 Asian Athletics Championships were the 20th edition of the biennial athletics competition between Asian nations. It was held at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune, India between 3–7 July. Around 522 athletes from 42 nations competed at the event. It was the first time since 1989 that India had hosted the championships. Prior to the competition, the election of the Asian Athletics Association president was convened in Pune. The Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The Games were regulated by the Asian Games Federation (AGF) from the first Games in New Delhi, India, until the 1978 Games. Since the 1982 Games, they have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), after the breakup of the Asian Games Federation.
