Naunhof is a town in the Leipzig district, in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the river Parthe, 11 km northwest of Grimma, and 16 km southeast of Leipzig (centre). Parthe
The Parthe is a river in Saxony, Germany, right tributary of the White Elster. Its total length is . The Parthe originates in northern Saxony, between Colditz and Bad Lausick. It flows northwest through Parthenstein, Naunhof, Borsdorf and Taucha before entering the city of Leipzig. The Parthe joins the White Elster in northwestern Leipzig. Course On its course through the Leipzig Bay (''Leipziger Tieflandsbucht''), the Parthe flows through the regions and towns of Großbardau, Parthenstein, Naunhof, Beucha, Borsdorf, Panitzsch, Taucha and Leipzig. Into the ''Parthe'' flow, amongst others, the Gladegraben, the Lazy Parthe, the Todgraben, the Mittelgraben, the Grenzgraben, the Threne, the Zauchgraben, the Kittelgraben, the Wachtelbach, the Lösegraben, the Staditzbach, the Hasengraben and the Rüdgengraben. Paul Horst-Schulze
Paul Horst-Schulze (5 October 1876 – 27 December 1937) was a German painter, graphic artist and artisan. His stage name Horst-Schulze came about by combining his middle name with his original family name.Andreas Höhn: ''Werkbundgründer und Expressionist.'' . Life Born in Naunhof, Horst-Schulze was a son of the Naunhofer pastor Moritz Hermann Schulze (1828-1909). At the age of seven, he suffered a serious back injury when he fell from a tree. Since he concealed the accident out of fear of his father, without medical treatment his back became so deformed that he had a hump for the rest of his life. At that time, this was a reason not to take up the training as a pastor that his father was aiming for. Instead, he studied at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig from 1891 and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München from 1894, as well as one year at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Leipzig (official name: ''Landkreis Leipzig'') is a district ('' Kreis'') in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is named after the city Leipzig, which is partly surrounded by the district, but not part of it. It borders (from the west and clockwise) the state Saxony-Anhalt, the urban district Leipzig, the districts Nordsachsen and Mittelsachsen, and the state Thuringia. Geography The district is located in the Leipzig Bay and is rather flat. Individual hills are found in the north (Hohburg Hills) and south of the district. Its larger rivers are the Mulde, Pleiße and White Elster. Also worth mentioning are the many lakes of the Leipzig Neuseenland in the west of the county, that were formed by flooding old brown coal pits. Grimma ( hsb, Grima) is a town in Saxony, Central Germany (cultural area), Central Germany, on the left bank of the Mulde, southeast of Leipzig. Founded in 1170, it is part of the Leipzig (district), Leipzig district. Location The town is in northern Saxony, southeast of Leipzig and south of Wurzen. Ludwig Külz
Ludwig Külz (18 February 1875 - 1938) was a German colonial physician born in Borna. He was a twin brother to liberal politician Wilhelm Külz (1875-1948). Ludwig Külz earned his medical doctorate in 1899, and became a doctor with the German Imperial Navy. From 1902 until 1912 he was a colonial doctor in Togo and Kamerun, where he was tasked with dealing with the problem of malaria. With ophthalmologist Alfred Leber (1881-1954), he was part of a mission to German New Guinea ''(Medizinisch-demographischen Deutsch-Neuguinea-Expedition)'' in 1913–14.
