Nattfödd
''Nattfödd'' () is the third studio album by the Finnish folk metal band Finntroll. It was released on 19 April 2004 by Spinefarm Records in Finland and by Century Media outside. ''Nattfödd'' marks a change in the musical direction of Finntroll, as they drift into a slightly slower, less frenzied sound that is reminiscent of some songs from their first album, '' Midnattens widunder''. It also incorporates some of the acoustic and ambient elements from their previous album, ''Visor om slutet'', though is largely a return to the band's folk and black metal roots. A special edition of the album includes the EP ''Trollhammaren ''Trollhammaren'' () is an extended play, EP from Finland, Finnish band Finntroll. Finntroll
Finntroll is a Finnish folk metal band from Helsinki. They combine elements of black metal and death metal with a type of Finnish folk music called humppa. Finntroll's lyrics are mostly in Swedish, the only exception being the song "Madon Laulu" on ''Visor om slutet''. Finntroll's original singer, Katla, decided to use Swedish over Finnish since he was part of a Swedish-speaking Finns, Swedish-speaking minority in Finland and the sound of the language seemed to better suit the band's "trollish" outfit. Despite several vocalist changes, this tradition has continued. To date, the band's discography includes seven full-length albums, a live album and three EPs. Their newest studio album ''Vredesvävd'' was released in 2020. History Finntroll was founded in 1997 with a line-up which included guitarist Teemu Raimoranta, Teemu "Somnium" Raimoranta and vocalist/lyricist Jan Jämsen, Jan "Katla" Jämsen. A year later they were joined by guitarist Samuli Ponsimaa, Samuli "Skrymer" Pon ...

Ur Jordens Djup
''Ur jordens djup'' () is the fourth full-length Finntroll album. It was released on 28 March 2007. The album is the first to feature vocalist Mathias Lillmåns, who replaced Tapio Wilska in 2006. Unlike in ''Nattfödd'', the lyrics for this album were written by the band's original vocalist, Jan "Katla" Jämsen. This and other factors appear to contribute to a darker, more black metal feel. A music video for " Nedgång" was released in April. Concept The band approached the founding member Jämsen about writing the lyrics for this album. He chose to continue a semi-mythical saga which has been touched upon throughout Finntroll's career. The " kingshaman of the trolls" character Rivfader (Ripfather), was first introduced in their first demo, fittingly titled "Rivfader" (re-recorded for '' Midnattens widunder''), but Jämsen has said that the story truly originated in the song "Födosagan" on the second album, '' Jaktens tid''. The song "Eliytres", from ''Nattfödd'', also makes ...

Folk Metal
Folk metal is a fusion genre of heavy metal music and traditional folk music that developed in Europe during the 1990s. It is characterised by the widespread use of folk instruments and, to a lesser extent, traditional singing styles (for example, Dutch Heidevolk, Danish Sylvatica and Spanish Stone of Erech). It also sometimes features soft instrumentation influenced by folk rock. The earliest folk metal bands were Skyclad (band), Skyclad from England and Cruachan (band), Cruachan from Ireland. Skyclad's debut album ''The Wayward Sons of Mother Earth'' was released in 1991 and would be considered a thrash metal album with some folk influences, unlike Cruachan’s early work which embraced the folk element as a defining part of their sound. It was not until 1994 and 1995 that other early contributors in the genre began to emerge from different regions of Europe and beyond. Among these early groups, the German band Subway to Sally spearheaded a different regional variation that over ...

Visor Om Slutet
''Visor om slutet'' () is an acoustic EP by the Finnish folk metal band Finntroll. It was released in 2003 by Spinefarm. It was the first album to feature Tapio Wilska on vocals, and the last to feature Jan "Katla" Jämsen, who was forced into retirement in 2003 due to a tumour developing on his vocal cords. ''Visor om slutet'' was released after a number of misfortunes befell several band members, including the death of guitarist Teemu Raimoranta, to whom the album is dedicated. It was recorded in a cabin off in the woods near Helsinki, coined as an "acoustic experiment," and features the use of traditionally non-metal instruments such as the kazoo. Though quite different in its sound to the folk metal-inspired '' Jaktens tid'', the album was a relative success. Track listing Personnel * Jan "Katla" Jämsen – vocals * Samuli "Skrymer" Ponsimaa – rhythm guitar * Teemu "Somnium" Raimoranta – lead, rhythm & acoustic guitar, choirs * Samu "Beast Dominator" Ruotsalaine ...

Century Media
A century is a period of 100 years or 10 decades. Centuries are numbered ordinally in English and many other languages. The word ''century'' comes from the Latin ''centum'', meaning ''one hundred''. ''Century'' is sometimes abbreviated as c. A centennial or centenary is a hundredth anniversary, or a celebration of this, typically the remembrance of an event which took place a hundred years earlier. Start and end of centuries Although a century can mean any arbitrary period of 100 years, there are two viewpoints on the nature of standard centuries. One is based on strict construction, while the other is based on popular perception. According to the strict construction, the 1st century AD, which began with AD 1, ended with AD 100, and the 2nd century with AD 200; in this model, the ''n''-th century starts with a year that follows a year with a multiple of 100 (except the first century as it began after the year 1 BC) and ends with the next coming year with a multiple of 1 ...
