Native Trail (foaled 3 February 2019) is a British Thoroughbred racehorse. He was one of the leading two-year-olds in Europe in 2021 when he was unbeaten in four races including the Superlative Stakes, National Stakes and Dewhurst Stakes. Background Native Trail is a bay colt with no white markings bred in England by the Normandy-based Le Haras d'Haspel. As a foal in December 2019 he was put up for auction at the Arqana Breeding Stock Sale and was bought for €50,000 by Sam Sangster Bloodstock. In October 2020 the yearling was consigned to the Tattersalls Yearling Sales and was sold to Margaret O'Toole and Oak Tree Farm for 67,000 guineas. The colt made his third appearance in the sales ring in April 2021 at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale, an event which sees two-year-olds galloped in public before being auctioned. Temperence Hill (March 1977 – June 2003) was a Champion American Thoroughbred racehorse. Background Temperence Hill was a bay horse bred in Kentucky by Dr. Albert F. Polk, Jr.'s Oriskany Farm. He was sired by Stop The Music out of the Etonian mare, Sister Shannon. He was named for a 19th-century Arkansas Methodist church that his owner's ancestors attended. Temperence Hill was consigned to the 1978 Keeneland September yearling sale, where he was purchased and raced by Arkansas lumberman John Ed Anthony and his former wife, Mary Lynn Dudley under their Loblolly Stable colors. He was trained throughout his career by Joseph B. Cantey. The Lancashire Oaks is a Group 2 flat horse race in Great Britain open to fillies and mares aged three years or older. It is run at Haydock Park over a distance of 1 mile, 3 furlongs and 175 yards (2,373 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in early July. History The earliest recorded version of the race was run at Liverpool in the nineteenth century and was won in 1857 by The Derby winner Blink Bonny. The event was re-established in 1939, and it was run at Manchester Racecourse over 1 mile and 3 furlongs. It was abandoned throughout World War II, with no running from 1940 to 1946. Distant Music (foaled 3 February 1997) is an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. Bred and owned by Khalid Abdullah he was trained throughout his racing career in England by Barry Hills. As a two-year-old in 1999 he was unbeaten in three races including the Champagne Stakes and the Dewhurst Stakes and was the top-rated British-trained juvenile of the season. He began 2000 as the favourite for the 2000 Guineas but after losing his unbeaten record in the Greenham Stakes he was well-beaten in the Newmarket classic. Later in the year he won the Park Stakes and finished third in the Champion Stakes. He failed to reproduce his best form as a four-year-old but did add one more important victory in the Goffs International Stakes. African Rose
African Rose (foaled 8 May 2005) is a British-bred, French-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She was bred and owned by Khalid Abdullah and trained by Criquette Head-Maarek. As a juvenile in 2007 she showed very promising form, winning one minor race and being placed in the Prix Yacowlef, Prix d'Aumale and Prix des Réservoirs. In 2008 she won the Listed Prix du Pont-Neuf and then showed improved form when dropped to sprint distances, finishing second in the Prix Maurice de Gheest before recording her biggest win in the Group One Ladbroke Sprint Cup. Power is a British-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. He won the Coventry Stakes and the National Stakes as a two-year-old in 2011. In May 2012 he won the Irish 2000 Guineas. The Nunthorpe Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged two years or older. It is run at York over a distance of 5 furlongs (1,006 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in August. History The event is named after Nunthorpe, an area of York.
