National Snaffle Bit Association
The National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) is an equestrian organization in the United States that began by promoting and staging Western Pleasure events in 1983. Since then, focus has expanded to promoting the show horse at every level across multiple disciplines. The association is currently headquartered in Weatherford, Texas, United States. Organization Breeders Championship Futurity The Breeders Championship Futurity is a futurity competition held annually in conjunction with the NSBA World Championship Show. There are over 40 BCF classes. Stakes classes There are five stakes shows offered at the World Show. All recognized breeds are eligible to compete. Awards are given to the top 10 in each class. Prizes are money and a jackpot. Hall of Fame The National Snaffle Bit Association Hall of Fame was created to recognize extraordinary athletes, individuals, riders, and horses in the show horse industry. This List of National Snaffle Bit Association Hall of Fame Inductees was created by the National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) for the NSBA Hall of Fame to recognize extraordinary athletes, individuals, riders, and horses, in the equestrian sport of Pleasure riding. The NSBA Hall of Fame started inducting members into the hall of fame 1988. The hall of fame was created to recognize these individuals who have contributed significantly to the association. The hall of fame features those who have exerted themselves in maintaining a high level of integrity while advocating for the industry. NSBA members who have impacted the association in a profound manner are considered. Pleasure riding is a form of equestrianism that encompasses many forms of recreational riding for personal enjoyment, absent elements of competition. In horse show competition, a wide variety of classes are labeled pleasure classes with judging standards based on the concept that horses or ponies exhibited should be well-mannered and thus a “pleasure” to ride. Western Pleasure
Western pleasure is a western style competition at horse shows that evaluates horses on manners and suitability of the horse for a relaxed and slow but collected gait cadence, along with calm and responsive disposition. The horse is to appear to be a "pleasure" to ride, smooth-moving and very comfortable. Most light horse breeds in the United States and Canada may compete in western pleasure classes, either in open competition or at shows limited to a single breed. However, horse conformation and temperament play a role in this event, and hence animals of stock horse breeds that are calm, quiet, have collected, soft gaits and the strong muscling required to sustain slow, controlled movement are the most competitive. Weatherford ( ) is a city and the county seat of Parker County, Texas, United States. In 2020, its population was 30,854. Weatherford is named after Thomas J. Weatherford, a State senator and advocate for Texas’ secession to the Confederate States. National Reining Horse Association
The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote the reining horse. History and mission The NRHA was founded in 1966 in Coshocton, Ohio, and later moved its headquarters to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The NRHA approves shows for all list of horse breeds, breeds of horses, and for all levels of equestrianism, riders from beginning amateurs to professional trainers. The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) is an equestrian organization in Pilot Point, Texas, United States, that began by promoting and staging Working cow horse events. History The National Reined Cow Horse Association (formerly known as the California Reined Cow Horse Association) was founded in 1949. Its purpose is to continue the centuries long tradition process of training used by the vaqueros of California. The reined cow horse was a necessity in the 18th to 19th century on ranches.
