National Sliding Centre
The Yanqing National Sliding Centre is a bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton (sport), skeleton track in Yanqing District, a suburban district in Beijing. Also known as “The House of Speed” this venue hosted the bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton events for the 2022 Winter Olympics. The track has 16 curves with different angles and slopes. Yanqing District (), formerly known as Yanqing County before 2015, is a District (China), district of the municipality of Beijing located northwest of the city proper of Beijing. Venues Of The 2022 Winter Olympics
The then Beijing Olympic Games Bidding Committee unveiled the venue layout plan for the 2022 Winter Olympics on 20 February 2014:the plan was include the five ice events at the Olympic Green, the Capital Indoor Stadium and the Wukesong Sports Center, which were some of the main venues of the 2008 Summer Olympics. Competitions for luge, bobsleigh and alpine skiing were held at the Xiaohaituo Mountain Area,in a northwest of Beijing (in the West Dazhuangke village, of Zhangshanying in Yanqing District), away from the city centre of Beijing and away from the town of Yanqing. All other skiing events were held in Taizicheng Area in Chongli District, Zhangjiakou, from downtown Beijing and away from Xiaohaituo Mountain Area. Skeleton At The 2022 Winter Olympics
Skeleton at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held at the Xiaohaituo Bobsleigh and Luge Track in Yanqing District, China. The events took place between 10 and 12 February 2022. A total of two skeleton events were held, one each for men and women. A total of 50 quotas (25 per gender) were distributed to the sport, the same as the 2018 Winter Olympics. However, five men's quotas were transferred to the women's event to achieve gender equality. A total of 2 events were contested, one each for men and women. Qualification A total of 50 quota spots (25 per gender) were available to athletes to compete at the games. In July 2018, the International Olympic Committee moved five men's quotas to the women's event, to achieve gender equality. Luge at the 2022 Winter Olympics will be held at the Xiaohaituo Bobsleigh and Luge Track which is one of the Yanqing cluster venues between 5 and 10 February 2022. A total of 106 quota spots were distributed to the sport of luge, a decline of four from the 2018 Winter Olympics. A total of four events were contested, one for men, one open event, one for women and one mixed. Qualification A maximum of 106 athletes will be allowed to compete at the Games. Countries will assigned quotas using the results of Olympic Qualification World Cup Ranking List from 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2021. Bobsleigh At The 2022 Winter Olympics
Bobsleigh at the 2022 Winter Olympics has been held at the Xiaohaituo Bobsleigh and Luge Track which is one of the Yanqing cluster venues. A total of four bobsleigh events were held, between 4 and 20 February 2022. In July 2018, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially added the women's monobob event to the program, increasing the total number of events to four. The IOC also transferred six quotas from the men's events to the women's. The quota limit of 170 athletes remained the same from the 2018 Winter Olympics. A total of four events have been contested, two each for men and women. Qualification A maximum of 170 quota spots will be available to athletes to compete at the games (124 men and 46 women).
