National Route 219 (Costa Rica)
National Secondary Route 219, or just Route 219 ( es, Ruta Nacional Secundaria 219, or ) is a National Road Route of Costa Rica, located in the Cartago province. Description It is the main access to Irazú Volcano National Park, it is possible from Route 219 to take Route 417 which is the main access to Turrialba Volcano National Park. Cartago Province
Cartago (), which means Carthage in Spanish, is a province of central Costa Rica. It is one of the smallest provinces, however probably the richest of the Spanish Colonial era sites and traditions. Geography It is located in the central part of the country and borders the provinces of Limón to the east and San Jose to the west. Alvarado is a canton in the Cartago province of Costa Rica. The head city is in the Pacayas district. History Alvarado was created on 9 July 1908 by decree 28. National Road Network Of Costa Rica
National Road Network of Costa Rica ( es, Red Vial Nacional), are a series of numbered road routes that are managed through Costa Rica by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) and its subagency the National Road Council (Conavi). According to the Inter-American Development Bank, in 2019 Costa Rica had the worst road network in Latin America, due to being under maintained, and having structural defects and deterioration in around 49% of the National Primary Routes network. Other countries in the area report an average of 20% in the same metric. There are no high speed express routes but there are some two-lane trunk roads. Potholes are common in primary road routes. Many of the secondary or tertiary road routes are made of gravel or dirt.
