Jindo County
Jindo County (''Jindo-gun'') is a county in South Jeolla Province, South Korea. It consists of the island of Jindo and several smaller nearby islands. Jindo Bridge connects Jindo county with Haenam county. Together with Jindo Island, Jindo County contains an archipelago of about 230 small islands, of which only 45 are inhabited by 4,855 people. Women made up 50.4% of the total county population of 29,538 in 2015. Soh Jaipil
Soh Jaipil or Seo Jae-pil (January 7, 1864 – January 5, 1951), also known as Philip Jaisohn, was a Korean-American political activist and physician who was a noted champion of the Korean independence movement, the first Korean naturalized citizen of the United States, and founded ''Tongnip Sinmun'', the first Korean newspaper in Hangul. Soh was one of the organizers of the failed Gapsin Coup in 1884 and convicted for treason, seeking refuge in the United States where he became a citizen and earned a medical doctorate. Upon returning to Korea in 1895, Soh was offered a position as a chief advisor of the Joseon government. He declined, choosing to focus on further development of reform movements, where he advocated for democracy, leaving the Chinese sphere of influence, and numerous civil rights and universal suffrage. Soh was forced back to the United States in 1898, from where he participated in the First Korean Congress and advocated for the March 1st Movement and U.S. Gover ... Namhae Expressway
The Namhae Expressway (Korean: 남해고속도로, Namhae Gosok Doro; ) is a freeway in South Korea, connecting Yeongam to Suncheon, Gwangyang, Jinju, Changwon and Busan. It was opened in 1973 with Honam Expressway's Jeonju - Suncheon section, through W.Suncheon IC is connected to the Honam Expressway. At the time this was an opening round two-lane road. However, through the expansion progressed from 1977 to 1996 was expanded to four lanes round the entire section. It was expanded to 8 lanes 2001 Naengjeong JCT ~ Changwon JCT section, with 8 lanes 2011 Sanin JCT ~ Jinju section, Sacheon ~ Jinju section has been expanded to 6 lanes, December 2014 Naengjeong JCT ~ Daejeo JCT section is extended to 6-8 lanes some section have been expanded such that at least 6 lanes.
