Recorded Texas Historic Landmark
Recorded Texas Historic Landmark (RTHL) is a designation awarded by the Texas Historical Commission for historically and architecturally significant properties in the U.S. state of Texas. RTHL is a legal designation and the highest honor the state can bestow on a historic structure. Purchase and display of a historical marker is a required component of the RTHL designation process. Because it is a legal designation, owners of RTHL-designated structures must give 60 days' notice before any alterations are made to the exterior of the structure. Changes that are unsympathetic may result in removal of the designation and historical marker. More than 3,600 RTHL structures are spread throughout the state. Texas State Antiquities Landmark
The Texas Historical Commission is an agency dedicated to historic preservation within the state of Texas. It administers the National Register of Historic Places for sites in Texas. The commission also identifies Recorded Texas Historic Landmarks (RTHL) and recognizes them with Official Texas Historical Marker (OTHM) medallions and descriptive plaques. Trinity, Texas
Trinity is a city in Trinity County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,343 at the 2020 census. History Trinity was founded in 1872 on land purchased from the New York and Texas Land Company. The town was a railroad station on the Houston and Great Northern Railroad. The town was originally named Trinity Station after the Trinity River. The name of the town was later changed to Trinity City, then to Trinity. The town was incorporated in 1910. Civilian Conservation Corps A camp site for Civilian Conservation Corps Company 839 was established 1.6 miles east of Trinity on June 8, 1933. The company was under the command of Captain Charles H Brammel and the medical department was under the direction of Dr H H Thornton. Riverside is a small city in Walker County, Texas, United States. The population was 522 at the 2020 census. Groveton is a city in Trinity County, Texas, United States. The population was 918 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Trinity County. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.6 sq mi (6.8 km), of which, 2.6 sq mi (6.6 km) are land and 0.1 sq mi (0.1 km) (1.91%) is covered by water.
