This is intended to be a complete list of the properties and districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Tarrant County, Texas. There are 23 districts and 91 individual properties listed on the National Register in the county. Another two properties were once listed but have been removed while a third property has been relocated outside the county. One individually listed property is both a State Antiquities Landmark (SAL) and a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark (RTHL) while an additional property is an SAL. Trinity River (Texas)
The Trinity River is a river, the longest with a watershed entirely within the U.S. state of Texas. It rises in extreme northern Texas, a few miles south of the Red River. The headwaters are separated by the high bluffs on the southern side of the Red River. Indigenous peoples call the northern sections ''Arkikosa'' and the parts closer to the coast ''Daycoa''. Texas State Railroad
The Texas State Railroad is a historic heritage railroad between Rusk and Palestine, Texas. Built by inmates, it was founded in 1883 by the state of Texas to haul raw materials for a smelter at the prison at Rusk. Regular service on the line was ended in 1921. The state leased the line to private companies until 1969, then turned it over to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in 1972. In 2007, the railroad was transferred to the Texas State Railroad Authority and is now operating as a scenic tourist line. It is currently operated on a limited, year-round schedule. Today, the railroad has a total of five steam locomotives (two of which are operational) and three diesel locomotives in their current roster. Anderson County, Texas
Anderson County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. Located within East Texas, its county seat is Palestine. As of the 2020 United States census, the population of Anderson County was 57,922. Anderson County comprises the Palestine micropolitan statistical area. Palestine ( ) is a city in and the seat of Anderson County in the U.S. state of Texas. It was named for Palestine, Illinois, by preacher Daniel Parker, who had migrated from that town. The city had a 2020 U.S. census population of 18,544, making it the sixth-largest incorporated municipality in Northeast Texas by population. Palestine is a relatively small city located in the Piney Woods, equidistant from the major cities of Dallas, Houston, and Shreveport, Louisiana. The ''Fort Worth Star-Telegram'' is an American daily newspaper serving Fort Worth and Tarrant County, the western half of the North Texas area known as the Metroplex. It is owned by The McClatchy Company. History In May 1905, Amon G. Carter accepted a job as an advertising space salesman in Fort Worth. A few months later, he agreed to help finance and run a new newspaper in town. The ''Fort Worth Star'' printed its first newspaper on February 1, 1906, with Carter as the advertising manager. Westworth Village is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,472 at the 2010 census. History The town's growth was helped in large part by the construction and development of Carswell Air Force Base. In 1941, the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce deeded 1,400 acres to the federal government for the construction of the base, and the town was incorporated the same year.
