Murray State University (MSU) is a public university in Murray, Kentucky. In addition to the main campus in Calloway County in southwestern Kentucky, Murray State operates extended campuses offering upper level and graduate courses in Paducah, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, and Henderson. History Murray State University was founded after passage of Senate Bill 14 by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, which created two normal schools in the early 20th century to address the growing demand for professional teachers. New Concord, Kentucky
New Concord is an unincorporated community in Calloway County, Kentucky, United States. History On March 2, 1836, a post office was opened at the site and named Humility, Kentucky. Settlers from Concord, North Carolina came to the area in the late 1830s and renamed it Concord. The post office was renamed New Concord in 1861 because there was already a Concord, Kentucky in Lewis County. It was incorporated with the name New Concord in 1868. Murray is a home rule-class city in Calloway County, Kentucky, United States. It is the seat of Calloway County and the 19th-largest city in Kentucky. The city's population was 17,741 during the 2010 U.S. census, and its micropolitan area's population is 37,191. Murray is a college town and is the home of Murray State University.
